Extensible pedestal for trunks
Abstract
An extensible pedestal for mounting to two sides of the bottom of a trunk to form a secured and steady support for the trunk comprises a base frame, a slide plate, a control member and an upper lid. The base frame has a housing chamber for holding a spring and two side walls located at two sides each having a slot to allow a flank ledge located at either of two sides of the slide plate to slide therein. The slide plate has a latch ledge located between the flank ledges with a latch notch formed at one end of the latch ledge to engage with a brake stub located on the bottom side of the upper lid. The control member has a compression strut located at a rear end to press the top surface of the latch ledge. The upper lid is mounted to the top of the base frame. The slide plate is slidable in the slots of the base frame for extension or retraction.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedI claim:
1 . An extensible pedestal for trunks for mounting to two sides of the bottom of a trunk comprising a base frame, a slide plate, a control member and an upper lid, wherein:
the base frame has a housing chamber for holding a spring and two side walls located at two sides each having a slot to allow a flank ledge located at either of two sides of the slide plate to slide therein, the slide plate has a latch ledge located between the flank ledges with a latch notch formed at one end of the latch ledge to engage with a brake stub located on the bottom side of the upper lid, the control member has a compression strut located at a rear end to press the top surface of the latch ledge, the upper lid is mounted to the top of the base frame; wherein the pedestal is fastened to the bottom of the trunk through rivets such that the slide plate is slidable in the slot of the base frame to extend for supporting the trunk when the trunk is extended to increase housing capacity and to withdraw when the trunk is retracted.
2 . The extensible pedestal for trunks of claim 1 , wherein:
the base frame further has an opening end, two indented channels located at two sides to sandwich a jutting channel therebetween, two side walls at two sides thereof each has one end extended upwards to form a curved shape, and a sloped edge located above the slot; the jutting channel having a housing chamber located therein, each side wall having a lug attached to an outside surface thereof and having a first aperture formed on the lug to receive a rivet for fastening the pedestal to the bottom of the trunk, the jutting channel having a second aperture formed behind the housing chamber for receiving another rivet to fasten the pedestal to the bottom of the trunk; the slide plate has a curvy front end, two flank ledges and a latch ledge, the latch ledge having a retain block extended from the bottom side at the middle portion into the housing chamber of the base frame; the control member is for controlling extension or withdrawing of the slide plate having one end formed a press section, two jutting stubs located at two sides slidable in slots formed between the sloped edges of the base frame and indented sections of the upper lid, the compression strut having one end formed a compression plane; and the upper lid is mounted to the base frame having an arched concave surface to match the bottom side of the trunk, and a third aperture matching the second aperture of the base frame.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
