Network facsimile apparatus
Abstract
A communication apparatus is connected to a terminal apparatus via a network. The communication apparatus includes a receiver that receives e-mail data via the network, a memory that stores the received e-mail data, and a generator that generates management data corresponding to the stored e-mail data, as a structured document. A server transmits the management data to the terminal apparatus when a request for the management data is received from the terminal apparatus. The management data is displayable at the terminal apparatus, and the terminal apparatus designates the management data to delete e-mail data in the memory, corresponding the designated management data. A deleting section, when the designated management data and a request for deletion are received from the terminal apparatus via the network, deletes e-mail data stored in the memory, corresponding to the designated management data.

a facsimile receiver that receives facsimile data via a telephone network; and a converter that converts the received facsimile data into a TIFF file; wherein said memory stores the TIFF file, and said generator generates management data corresponding to the TIFF file as a structured document.
9 . The communication apparatus according to claim 8 , further comprising a determiner that determines whether the data was received via the network or via the telephone network.
10 . The communication apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein said generator assigns a specific number to each management data, the specific number being utilized to identify each management data.
11 . The communication apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein said server generates an image file including the management data and an operation icon as a structured document, and the management data and the operation icon can be displayed simultaneously at the terminal apparatus.
12 . The communication apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein said server transmits confirmation data to the terminal apparatus which transmitted the request for deleting after the request is received.
13 . A method for deleting e-mail data stored in a memory of a communication apparatus, the communication apparatus connected to a terminal apparatus via a network, the method comprising:
receiving the e-mail data; storing the received e-mail data to the memory; generating management data corresponding to the stored e-mail data, as a structured document; transmitting the management data to the terminal apparatus when a request for the management data is received from the terminal apparatus, the management data being displayable at the terminal apparatus, the terminal apparatus designating the management data to delete e-mail data in the memory, corresponding the designated management data; and deleting e-mail data stored in the memory, corresponding to the designated management data when the designated management data and a request for deleting are received from the terminal apparatus via the network.
14 . The method according to claim 13 , wherein the storing stores a plurality of e-mail data, and the generating generates a list of management data.
15 . The method according to claim 13 , wherein the storing stores a TIFF file attached to the e-mail data.
16 . The method according to claim 13 , wherein the generating management data generates data includes at least a time at which the e-mail data corresponding to the management data is stored in the memory.
17 . The method according to claim 13 , wherein the generating management data generated data includes sender data.
18 . The method according to claim 13 , wherein the terminal apparatus comprises a personal computer with a display.
19 . The method according to claim 13 , further comprising:
scanning a document to obtain image data; compressing the image data; and transmitting the compressed image data to a destination via a telephone network.
20 . The method according to claim 13 , further comprising:
receiving facsimile data via a telephone network; and converting the received facsimile data into a TIFF file; wherein the storing stores the TIFF file into the memory, and the generating generates management data corresponding to the TIFF file as a structured document.
21 . The method according to claim 20 , further comprising determining whether the data was received via the network or the telephone network.
22 . The method according to claim 13 , wherein the generating assigns a specific number to each management data, the specific number being utilized to identify each management data.
23 . The method according to claim 13 , wherein the generating generates an image file including the management data and an operation icon, as a structured document and the management data and the operation icon can be displayed simultaneously at the terminal apparatus.
24 . The method according to claim 13 , wherein the transmitting transmits confirmation data to the terminal apparatus which transmitted the request for deleting after the request is received.
25 . A communication apparatus connected to a terminal apparatus via a network, the communication apparatus comprising:
a receiver that receives e-mail data via the network; a memory having a plurality of folders, and that stores the received e-mail data; the received e-mail being stored in a predetermined folder of said memory; a generator that generates management data corresponding to the stored e-mail data, as a structured document; a server that transmits the management data to the terminal apparatus when a request for the management data is received from the terminal apparatus, the management data being displayable at the terminal apparatus, the terminal apparatus designating the management data to move e-mail data from the predetermined folder into a different folder in said memory, the e-mail data being associated with the designated management data; and a mover that, when the designated management data and a request for moving are received from the terminal apparatus via the network, moves e-mail data from the predetermined folder into the different folder of said memory, the different folder being designated by the terminal apparatus.
