Abstract
A method of producing analgesia in a mammal is provided by intrathecal administration to the mammal of a pharmaceutically effective dose of the opioid receptor-like receptor 1 (ORL-1) agonist (1S,3aS)8-(2,3,3a,4,5,6-hexahydro-IH-phenalen-1-yl)-1-phenyl-1,3,8-triaza-spiro[4,5]decan-4-one. Administration may be carried out through use of an implantable apparatus.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedThe embodiments of the invention in which an exclusive property or privilege is claimed are defined as follows:
1 . A method of producing analgesia in a mammal comprising intrathecal administration to the mammal of a pharmaceutically effective dose of (1S,3aS)8-(2,3,3a,4,5,6-hexahydro-1H-phenalen-1-yl)-1-phenyl-1,3,8-triaza-spiro[4,5]decan-4-one.
2 . The method of claim 1 wherein the (1S,3aS)8-(2,3,3a,4,5,6-hexahydro-1H-phenalen-1-yl)-1-phenyl-1,3,8-triaza-spiro[4,5]decan-4-one is intrathecally administered in combination with an opioid agonist.
3 . The method of claim 1 wherein the (1S,3aS)8-(2,3,3a,4,5,6-hexahydro-1H-phenalen-1-yl)-1-phenyl-1,3,8-triaza-spiro[4,5]decan-4-one is intrathecally administered in combination with another analgesic.
4 . The method of claim 1 wherein the (1S,3aS)8-(2,3,3a,4,5,6-hexahydro-1H-phenalen-1-yl)-1-phenyl-1,3,8-triaza-spiro[4,5]decan-4-one is the sole analgesic administered intrathecally to the mammal.
5 . The method of claim 1 wherein the (1S,3aS)8-(2,3,3a,4,5,6-hexahydro-1H-phenalen-1-yl)-1-phenyl-1,3,8-triaza-spiro[4,5]decan-4-one is administered for a first period of time insufficient to result in tolerance in the mammal to the (1S,3aS)-8-(2,3,3a,4,5,6-hexahydro- 1H-phenalen-1-yl)-1-phenyl-1,3,8-triaza-spiro[4,5]decan-4-one, further comprising intrathecal administration to the mammal of a pharmaceutically effective dose of a second analgesic for a second period of time insufficient to result in tolerance in the mammal to the second analgesic.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
