Pendant positioner

Abstract

The invention is a device applicable to the positioning of a loose object on a carrier such as a device mounted on a necklace with a pendant to keep the pendant in a stationary position on the necklace. The device comprises at least one coil forming an opening and a locating section. The necklace is contained in the opening of the coil with the locating section serving to retain the pendant in position on the necklace. Optional end configurations serve to reduce risk of necklace entanglement as well as increase friction between the device and the necklace.

I claim:  
     
         1 . A device for holding a loose object in position on a carrier comprising: 
 a) at least one coil forming an opening and    b) a locating section;    wherein the opening formed by said at least one coil can contain the carrier;    wherein the locating section serves to retain said loose object in position on said carrier.    
     
     
         2 . The device of  claim 1  further comprising a locating loop which, in conjunction with said locating section, serves to retain said loose object in position on said carrier.  
     
     
         3 . The device of  claim 1  wherein said at least one coil further comprises a formed end.  
     
     
         4 . The device of  claim 1  wherein said at least one coil further comprises a bent end.  
     
     
         5 . The device of  claim 1  wherein the device is magnetic.  
     
     
         6 . The device of  claim 1  wherein the device is springy.  
     
     
         7 . The device of  claim 1  wherein the device is made of a shape memory material.  
     
     
         8 . The device of  claim 1  wherein the device is plated or coated.  
     
     
         9 . The device of  claim 1  wherein said loose object is a pendant and said carrier is a necklace.  
     
     
         10 . The device of  claim 9  further comprising a locating loop which, in conjunction with said locating section, serves to secure said pendant in position on said necklace.  
     
     
         11 . A device for holding a pendant with a bail slidably placed on a necklace comprising: 
 a) at least one coil; and    b) a locating section;    wherein said necklace is placed through said coil;    wherein said pendant being located in said locating section; and    wherein said pendant being held in position on said necklace by the at least one coil and locating section.    
     
     
         12 . The device of  claim 11  wherein said locating section separates said at least one coil into a left half and a right half.  
     
     
         13 . A device for holding a pendant with a bail on a necklace comprising: 
 a pendant with a bail;    said bail slidably held on said necklace;    a coil;    said necklace placed through said coil;    said coil including a locating loop opening;    said pendant being located in said locating loop opening and    said coil having means to hold the coil and opening against sliding on the necklace.    
     
     
         14 . An apparatus comprising: 
 an elongated member;    a hanging member having an aperture, the elongated member passing through the aperture such that the hanging member is in a slidable engagement with the elongated member; and    a retaining member having at least one coil forming an opening, the retaining member including a locating section;    wherein the elongate member is contained in the opening of the coil and the locating section of the retaining member secures the hanging member in a fixed position relative to the elongated member.    
     
     
         15 . A hanging member for use with an elongated flexible member, the elongated flexible member being endless, the hanging member having an aperture, the elongated flexible member passing through the aperture, the hanging member including a coil, the coil securing the hanging member in a fixed position relative to the elongated flexible member.  
     
     
         16 . An elongated flexible member for use with a hanging member, the elongated flexible member being endless, the hanging member having an aperture, the elongated flexible member passing through the aperture, the elongated flexible member including a locating loop, the locating loop securing the hanging member in a predetermined fixed position relative to the elongated flexible member.  
     
     
         17 . An elongated flexible member for use with a hanging member, the elongated flexible member being endless, the hanging member having an aperture, the elongated flexible member passing through the aperture, the elongated flexible member including a locating section, the locating section securing the hanging member in a predetermined fixed position relative to the elongated flexible member.  
     
     
         18 . The device of  claim 17  wherein said locating section further comprises a locating loop.  
     
     
         19 . A retaining member for use with a hanging member and an elongated member, the hanging member having an aperture, the elongated member passing through the aperture such that the hanging member is in a slidable engagement with the elongated member, the retaining member comprising at least one coil forming an opening, the retaining member including a locating section, the elongated member being disposed through the opening of said at least one coil of the retaining member, the locating section of the retaining member securing the hanging member in a stationary position relative to the elongated member.  
     
     
         20 . A device comprising a means for frictionally engaging a carrier and a means for engaging a loose object slidably placed on said carrier.
