Abstract

A method of construction works for preventing the bed and shore of a torrent from being eroded by using steel cables and steel nets without requiring a huge number of works or huge costs, comprising the steps of fixing at least two longitudinal cables ( 1 ) directly or indirectly to lodgments ( 2 ), connecting the longitudinal cables by at least two lateral cables ( 5 ) at proper intervals, and disposing at least two nets ( 3 ), the number of which corresponds to the number of lateral cables, so that the nets are arranged at proper intervals in the direction from upstream to downstream of the torrent and mooring the nets by the longitudinal cables and the lateral cables or mooring cables that are connected to the longitudinal cables so that the nets face the water flow of the torrent.

1 . A method for erosion and torrent control works to prevent a torrent bed from being eroded, comprising the steps of: 
 fixing at least two longitudinal cables directly or indirectly to lodgments;    connecting the longitudinal cables by at least two lateral cables at proper intervals; and    providing at least two nets, the number of nets corresponding to the number of lateral cables, and mooring the at least two nets by the longitudinal cables and the lateral cables, or by the longitudinal cables and mooring cables that are connected to the longitudinal cables so that the nets are arranged at proper intervals in the direction of a water flow, and so that that nets face the water flow.    
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein each lodgment is selected from one of a tree, rock, and artificial structure.  
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the step of fixing the longitudinal cables indirectly to the lodgments includes the steps of connecting two lodgments by an auxiliary cable and connecting the longitudinal cables by the auxiliary cable.  
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 1 , further including the step of connecting fence members to the nets and/or the longitudinal and lateral cables.  
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein each fence member is a series of concrete blocks connected by elongated concertina wires filled with stones.  
     
     
         6 . A structure for erosion and torrent control to prevent a torrent bed from being eroded, comprising: 
 at least one lodgment;    at least two longitudinal cables directly or indirectly connected to the lodgment;    at least one lateral cable connecting the longitudinal cables at proper intervals; and    at least one net, the number of nets corresponding to the number of lateral cables, moored by the longitudinal cables and the lateral cable or a mooring cable that is connected to the longitudinal cables so that the net is arranged at proper intervals in the direction of a water flow, and so that that net faces the water flow.    
     
     
         7 . The structure of  claim 6 , wherein the lodgment is one of a tree, rock, and artificial structure.  
     
     
         8 . The structure of  claim 6 , including an auxiliary cable for connecting the longitudinal cables indirectly to a plurality of lodgments.  
     
     
         9 . The structure of  claim 6 , including fence members connected to the nets and/or the longitudinal and lateral cables.  
     
     
         10 . The structure of  claim 9 , wherein each fence member is a series of concrete blocks connected by elongated concertina wires filled with stones.  
     
     
         11 . A method for protecting a torrent shore from erosion, comprising the steps of: 
 providing at least two lodgments along the shore or outside thereof;    providing a net so that the net extends in the direction of the water flow of the torrent and connecting an upper side of the net to the lodgments so that the net hangs down on the surface of the shore; and    fixing a lower side of the net to a second lodgment that is provided on a torrent bed.    
     
     
         12 . The method of  claim 11 , wherein each first lodgment is selected from one of an artificial structure and a tree.  
     
     
         13 . The method of  claim 11 , wherein the second lodgment is selected from one of an artificial structure and a rock.  
     
     
         14 . The method of  claim 11  further including the steps of connecting at least two longitudinal cables directly or indirectly to a third lodgment and mooring the net by the longitudinal cables and mooring cables that are connected to the longitudinal cables.  
     
     
         15 . The method of  claim 14 , wherein the third lodgment is selected from one of a tree, rock, and artificial structure.  
     
     
         16 . A structure for protecting the shore of a torrent from erosion, comprising: 
 first stable lodgments provided along the shore or outside thereof;    at least one net connected at an upper side thereof to the first lodgments so that the net hangs down on the surface of the shore; and    second lodgments that are provided on a torrent bed for being connected to the net at a lower side thereof.    
     
     
         17 . The structure of  claim 16 , wherein each first lodgment is one of an artificial structure and tree.  
     
     
         18 . The structure of  claim 16 , wherein each second lodgment is one of an artificial structure and a rock.  
     
     
         19 . The structure of  claim 16 , further including at least one third lodgment, at least two longitudinal cables connected directly or indirectly to the third lodgment, and mooring cables connected to the longitudinal cables, wherein the at least one net is moored by the longitudinal cables and the mooring cables.  
     
     
         20 . The structure of  claim 19 , wherein the third lodgement is one of a tree, rock, and artificial structure.  
     
     
         21 . A method for erosion and torrent control works to protect a torrent bed from erosion and shore protection works to protect a shore from erosion, including the steps of: 
 fixing at least two longitudinal cables directly or indirectly to a first lodgment;    mooring at least two nets by the longitudinal cables and a mooring cable that is connected to the longitudinal cables so that the nets are arranged at proper intervals in the direction from upstream to downstream of the torrent;    providing at least two stable second lodgments along the shore of the torrent or outside thereof;    connecting the nets at the upper sides thereof to the second lodgments so that the nets hang on the surface of the shore; and    connecting the nets at lower sides thereof to a third lodgment that is provided on the torrent bed or to one of the longitudinal cables.    
     
     
         22 . The method of  claim 21 , further comprising the step of providing auxiliary members to be moored between the second lodgments and the third lodgment or one of the longitudinal cables before or after the step of connecting the nets at the upper side thereof to the second lodgments.  
     
     
         23 . The method of  claim 21 , wherein each auxiliary member to be moored is selected from one of a sheet of cloth and a cover in the form of a bar blind having wood, concrete, or plastic bars.  
     
     
         24 . The method of  claim 21  or  22 , wherein the first lodgment is selected from one of a tree, rock, and artificial structure.  
     
     
         25 . The method of  claim 21  or  22 , wherein each second lodgment is selected from one of a tree and artificial structure.  
     
     
         26 . The method of  claim 21  or  22 , wherein the third lodgment is selected from one of a rock and artificial structure.  
     
     
         27 . A structure for protecting a torrent bed and shore from erosion comprising: 
 at least two first lodgments;    at least two longitudinal cables directly or indirectly connected to the first lodgments;    at least one first net moored by the longitudinal cables and a mooring cable that is connected to the longitudinal cables so that the net is arranged at proper intervals in the direction from upstream to downstream of a torrent;    at least two stable second lodgments provided along the shore of the torrent or outside thereof;    at least one second net connected at upper sides thereof to the second lodgments so that the second net hangs on the surface of the shore; and    a third lodgment provided on the torrent bed for fixing a lower side of the net to the torrent bed.    
     
     
         28 . The structure of  claim 27  further comprising an auxiliary member to be moored between the second lodgments and the third lodgment or one of the longitudinal cables.  
     
     
         29 . The structure of  claim 28 , wherein the auxiliary member to be moored is one of a sheet of cloth and a cover in the form of a bar blind having wood, concrete, or plastic bars.  
     
     
         30 . The structure of  claim 27 , wherein the first lodgment is one of a tree, rock, and artificial structure.  
     
     
         31 . The structure of  claim 27 , wherein each second lodgment is one of a tree and artificial structure.  
     
     
         32 . The structure of  claim 27 , wherein the third lodgment is one of a rock and artificial structure.
