Securing device

Abstract

A securing device and method for its use suitable for use by persons with impaired dexterity for releasably securing two surfaces together comprising a strap with an easy open and close clasp at each end for attachment to the two surfaces. In a further embodiment, the strap can comprise an advertising medium containing, words, logos and pictorial material. The strap may have varying lengths and adjustment means.

What is claimed is:  
     
         1 . A securing device suitable for use by persons with limited dexterity, said securing device comprising: 
 a strap having a first end and a second end;    a first clasp attached to said first end of said strap; and    a second clasp attached to said second end of said strap;    wherein said clasps are easy open and close clasps and each of said clasps comprises a base, an attachment portion on said base to which a respective end of the strap is fastened, a clamping portion attached to said base for releasably securing the clasp to a surface, wherein the said clamping portion has an open position wherein the clamp is released and a closed position wherein the clamp is engaged, and a handle portion for moving the clamping portion from said open and closed position.    
     
     
         2 . The securing device of  claim 1 , further comprising at least one adjustment device mounted on said strap for adjusting the length of said strap.  
     
     
         3 . The securing device of  claim 2 , wherein said adjustment device is a slide adjustment.  
     
     
         4 . The securing device of  claim 2 , wherein said adjustment device is a plastic.  
     
     
         5 . The securing device of  claim 1 , wherein said device is sterilizable.  
     
     
         6 . The securing device of  claim 1 , wherein said strap comprises a polypropylene webbing material.  
     
     
         7 . The securing device of  claim 1 , wherein said strap contains written or pictorial material, a design, a logo, or combinations thereof.  
     
     
         8 . The securing device of  claim 1  wherein said first clasp is attachable to a first surface and said second clasp is attachable to a second surface.  
     
     
         9 . A method for securing a first surface to a second surface, said method comprising the steps of: 
 attaching said securing device to said first surface by means of an easy open and close first clasp attached to a first end of a strap having a first end and a second end; and    attaching said securing device to a second surface by means of a second easy open and close clasp attached to said second end of said strap, so as to secure said first surface to said second surface.    
     
     
         10 . The method of  claim 9 , further comprising the step of adjusting the length of said strap by an adjustment means on said strap.
