Repositionable flexible markerboard
Abstract
A flexible and self-adhesive repositionable dry erasable markerboard is disclosed, together with a method for making such repositionable dry erasable markerboard. The repositionable dry erasable markerboard is made of a second layer, comprising a paper layer, with a first layer, comprising a dry erasable layer applied to the upper surface of the second layer, and a third layer, comprising a pressure sensitive adhesive layer, applied to the lower surface of the second layer. The dry erasable first layer may be either a coating cured under the presence of a nitrogen blanket or a film. The pressure sensitive adhesive of the third layer may be applied to the entire surface of the second layer or selectively zone-coated. The pressure sensitive adhesive of the third layer may be covered with a fourth layer, comprising a removable liner. The paper second layer may be coated and/or printed. The repositionable dry erasable markerboard is flexible and may be rolled into a tube. The repositionable dry erasable markerboard may be cut into individual repositionable dry erasable markerboards and formed into a pad. The repositionable dry erasable markerboard may be perforated.

3 . The repositionable dry erasable markerboard of claim 1 wherein the markerboard is flexible.
4 . The repositionable dry erasable markerboard of claim 3 wherein the markerboard is sufficiently flexible such that the markerboard may be rolled into the shape of a tube.
5 . A plurality of the repositionable dry erasable markerboards of claim 1 wherein individual markerboards are stackable such that the upper surface of the first layer of one markerboard may be removably adhered to the lower surface of the third layer of another markerboard.
6 . The plurality of repositionable dry erasable markerboards of claim 5 wherein the upper surface of the first layer of one markerboard is partially removably adhered to the lower surface of the third layer of another markerboard.
7 . A plurality of the repositionable dry erasable markerboards of claim 2 wherein a first dry erasable and a second dry erasable markerboard are stackable such that the upper surface of the first layer of the first dry erasable markerboard is removably adhered to the lower surface of the fourth layer of the second dry erasable markerboard.
8 . The repositionable dry erasable markerboard of claim 1 wherein the first layer is a coating.
9 . The repositionable dry erasable markerboard of claim 8 wherein the first layer is a dry erase UV curable coating applied under the presence of a nitrogen blanket.
10 . The repositionable dry erasable markerboard of claim 9 wherein the first layer is a dry erase UV curable coating applied under the presence of a nitrogen blanket wherein the atmosphere directly in contact with the UV curable coating while said coating is curing contains less than 20 parts per million of oxygen.
11 . The repositionable dry erasable markerboard of claim 8 further comprising a clay coating or a coating of polyethylene applied to the upper surface of the second layer.
12 . The repositionable dry erasable markerboard of claim 1 wherein the first layer is a film.
13 . The repositionable dry erasable markerboard of claim 12 wherein the first layer is a film of polypropylene.
14 . The repositionable dry erasable markerboard of claim 1 wherein the second layer is substantially opaque.
15 . The repositionable dry erasable markerboard of claim 1 wherein the second layer has a printed design.
16 . The repositionable dry erasable markerboard of claim 1 wherein the dry erasable markerboard is perforated.
17 . A pad of a plurality of the repositionable dry erasable markerboards of claim 1 comprising:
a plurality of repositionable dry erasable markerboards stacked such that the upper surface of the first layer of a first dry erasable markerboard is in contact with the lower surface of the third layer of a second dry erasable markerboard;
a line of perforations on the first dry erasable markerboard and the second dry erasable markerboard;
a cover folded over a portion of the stacked markerboards; and
one or more staples binding the cover to the stacked markerboards such that the first dry erasable markerboard and the second dry erasable markerboard are secured to each other in the pad until removal by separation at the line of perforations.
18 . A pad of a plurality of repositionable dry erasable markerboards of claim 2 comprising:
a plurality of repositionable dry erasable markerboards stacked such that the upper surface of the first layer of a first dry erasable markerboard is in contact with the lower surface of the fourth layer of a second dry erasable markerboard;
a line of perforations on the first dry erasable markerboard and the second dry erasable markerboard; and
one or more staples binding the first dry erasable markerboard to the second dry erasable markerboard such that the dry erasable markerboards maybe removed from the pad by separation at the line of perforations.
19 . A pad of a plurality of repositionable dry erasable markerboards of claim 2 comprising:
a plurality of repositionable dry erasable markerboards stacked such that the upper surface of the first layer of a first dry erasable markerboard is in contact with the lower surface of the fourth layer of a second dry erasable markerboard;
a line of perforations on the first dry erasable markerboard and the second dry erasable markerboard; and
permanent adhesive binding the first dry erasable markerboard to the second dry erasable markerboard such that the dry erasable markerboards may be removed from the pad by separation at the line of perforations.
20 . The method of claim 19 further comprising the step of:
providing a fourth layer, comprising a removable liner with an upper surface and a lower surface, and adhering the upper surface of the fourth layer to the lower side of the third layer.
21 . The method of making a flexible repositionable markerboard comprising the steps of:
providing a first layer which is a dry erasable layer having a dry erasable upper surface and a lower surface; providing a second layer, comprising a paper layer, the paper layer having an upper surface and a lower surface; adhering the upper surface of the second layer to the lower surface of the first layer;Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
