Abstract

The present invention is a method for training a player of a game in which an object is projected towards the player at a normal velocity range. Depending on the application of the training method, the normal range of velocity for the projected object in the game is determined. An apparatus is provided for projecting the object at a velocity greater than the normal velocity range. The object is projected towards the player at the velocity greater than the normal velocity range. This routine is repeated to improve ocular conditioning and physical objects of the game.

1 . A method for training a player of a game in which an object is projected towards the player at first and second velocity ranges to increase the ocular focus of the player, the method being performed in a single training session and comprising the steps of: 
 providing an apparatus for varying the velocity of a projected object and for projecting a plurality of objects towards the player one at a time;    projecting a first quantity of the plurality of objects one at a time towards the player at a predetermined velocity which is less than 100 m.p.h.; and    after projecting the first quantity of objects one at a time towards the player at the predetermined velocity, projecting a second quantity of the plurality of objects one at a time towards the player at a second velocity greater than 100 m.p.h.    
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the predetermined velocity is in a range of 80 m.p.h. to 100 m.p.h. and the second velocity is greater than 120 m.p.h.  
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 2 , wherein the second velocity is greater than 140 m.p.h.  
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 1  further including the step of: 
 after projecting the second quantity of objects one at a time towards the player at the second velocity, projecting a third quantity of the plurality of objects one at a time towards the player at a third velocity which is less than the second velocity.  
 
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the first quantity of objects is projected towards the player at incrementally increased velocities less than 100 m.p.h.  
     
     
         6 . A method for training a player of a game in which an object is projected sequentially towards the player at first, second and third velocity ranges to increase the ocular focus of the player, the method being performed in a single training session and comprising the steps of: 
 providing an apparatus for projecting a plurality of objects one at a time towards the player and for varying the velocity of a projected object and;    projecting a first quantity of the plurality of objects one at a time towards the player at a first velocity;    after projecting the first quantity of objects one at a time towards the player at the first velocity, projecting a second quantity of the plurality of objects one at a time towards the player at a second velocity greater than the first velocity to increase the players ocular focus at the second velocity; and    after projecting the second quantity of objects one at a time towards the player at the second velocity, projecting a third quantity of the plurality of objects one at a time towards the player at a third velocity less than the second velocity.    
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 6 , wherein the first velocity is in the range of 80 m.p.h. to 100 m.p.h.  
     
     
         8 . The method of  claim 7 , wherein the second velocity is greater than 100 m.p.h.  
     
     
         9 . The method of  claim 8 , wherein the second velocity is greater than 110 m.p.h.  
     
     
         10 . The method of  claim 8 , wherein the second velocity is greater than 120 m.p.h.  
     
     
         11 . The method of  claim 8 , wherein the second velocity is greater than 140 m.p.h.  
     
     
         12 . The method of  claim 6 , wherein the third velocity is in a range of 80 m.p.h. to 100 m.p.h.  
     
     
         13 . A method for training a player of a game in which a plurality of objects is projected towards the player at first and second velocity ranges to increase the ocular conditioning of the player, the method being performed in a single training session and comprising the steps of: 
 providing an apparatus for projecting a plurality of objects towards the player one at a time and for varying the velocity of the projected objects;    projecting a first quantity of the plurality of objects one at a time towards the player at a velocity within a range of 80 m.p.h. to 100 m.p.h.; and    after projecting the first quantity of objects one at a time towards the player at the first velocity, projecting another quantity of the plurality of objects one at a time towards the player at a velocity greater than 100 m.p.h.
