Manually operated table top cigarette making machine

Abstract

A light weight, manually powdered device used for weighing a precise quantity of tobacco then forming the tobacco into a cylindrical shape three inches in length with an adjustable diameter feature, then wrapping the tobacco with a lightweight paper and sealing the shape with a water activated cellulose glue. The first stage consists of weighing and placing a precise quantity of tobacco into the nip of apron between the forming roller and convex forming table. In stage two using the base as the starting point the handle is moved approximately 65 degrees forming the tobacco in to a cylindrical shape and a lightweight paper, with a glued end placed opposite the nip facing up, is inserted in the nip. In stage three the adhesive is activated with water and the handle is moved approximately 145 degrees and kept in this position for 5 seconds wrapping and sealing the tobacco. In stage four the handle is moved 175 degrees and the finished product is ejected. The device can be adjusted by changing the position of the forming roller and apron to obtain three different diameter products.

What I claim as my invention is:  
     
         1 . One piece stainless steel heavy duty base with four neoprene rubber pads. When placed on a flat surface the pads provide an anti-skid feature and provide protection to the surface.  
     
     
         2 . The forming roller has a slightly indented area so the user can properly place a filter if desired.  
     
     
         3 . The arms of the handle have three positions for the forming roller to obtain 3 sizes of cigarettes. The sizes are Petite size (about 0.185″ in diameter), Commercial size (about 0.250″ in diameter) and Grande size (about 0.345″ in diameter). The handle is easy to disassemble for the adjustment of the forming roller. The nuts on the handle bar and arm axel are removed and one side of the arm is removed and the forming roller is moved to the desired position.  
     
     
         4 . The scale is attached to the base with 2 counter sunk screws. The scale is a beam type design with a capacity of {fraction (1/20)} ounce to {fraction (1/10)} ounce and three counter weights are furnished, one for each size. The tray is rectangular, 2.5″×0.500″×0.250″ with a handle for easy poring of the tobacco in to the formed cradle of the apron.  
     
     
         5 . The apron is made of close weave Nomex for flexibility and durability. The apron is slotted on the start end for easy adjustment by loosening the screws holding the convex forming table and moving the apron manually.  
     
     
         6 . Instructions for use are placed on the under side of the base using a laminated, vinyl pressure sensitive permanent label.
