Abstract

A valve for venting low pressure gas. A single piece valve made of resilient material includes a flange extending from the top of the valve body and a plurality of flutes extending up the sides of the valve. The flutes allow gas to pass from the interior of a container to the exterior under the flange.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A low pressure relief valve comprising:
 a cup shaped body having a closed bottom end and an open top end; a flange extending from a rim of said open top end, said flange angled back toward said closed bottom end; and at least one side flute extending between said closed bottom end and said top end of said cup body such that when said valve is fitted into a hole in a container and the flange extends around the rim of said hole, wherein low pressure gas may move from within said container, through said channel and out from under said flange.

         2 . The valve of  claim 1  further comprising;
 a flange shoulder disposed at the rim of said open top end of said cup shaped body, wherein said rim acts to limit insertion depth of said valve in said container.

         3 . The valve of claim 1 , wherein said valve is made of a resilient polymer.

         4 . The valve of claim 2 , further comprising:
 a flattened lip at an outer edge of said flange, said lip seating against a container surface when said valve is inserted into said container.

         5 . The valve of claim 1 wherein said valve includes 4-8 side flutes.

         6 . The valve of claim 1 , wherein said body is tapered.

         7 . The valve of claim 1 , wherein said body does not allow transmission of light.

         8 . The valve of claim 1 , wherein said valve is made of silicone rubber.

         9 . The valve of claim 1 , wherein the side flutes allow compression of said cup body.
