Enhanced visibility safety garment

Abstract

An improved high visibility PPE safety garment ( 10 ) comprises front panels ( 12, 14 ) and a rear panel ( 16 ) reinforced by an arrangement of contrasting straps ( 26, 28 ) with retroreflective strips ( 30 ) thereon extending across the front, back and sides to enhance visibility from all viewing angles. The PPE safety garment ( 10 ) is readily adjustable for proper fit over various outer garments of differently sized wearers. A second embodiment ( 50 ) is also disclosed.

What is claimed is:  
     
         1 . An enhanced visibility safety garment, which comprises: 
 a rear panel having top, bottom and side edges, and inside and outside surfaces;    a pair of front panels, each front panel having top, bottom and side edges, and inside and outside surfaces;    said front and rear panels being of sufficient length to cover the torso of a wearer;    the top edges of said front panels being secured in spaced apart relationship to the top edge of said rear panel in order to form a generally V-shaped neck opening;    said front and rear panels being formed of a flexible, but substantially inextensible synthetic woven material;    means for releasably securing the adjacent inner side edges of said front panels;    a pair of longitudinal straps, each strap extending substantially continuously across the outside surfaces of said rear panel and the respective front panel between the top and bottom edges thereof;    means for securing said longitudinal straps to said front and rear panels;    said longitudinal straps being formed of a flexible, but substantially inextensible synthetic webbing material;    at least one retroflective strip secured to each longitudinal strap; and    means for releasably securing the adjacent outer side edges of said front and rear panels in adjustable spaced-apart relationship according to the size of the wearer.
