Removable ceiling fan blade cover

Abstract

A removable ceiling fan blade cover comprises a cover member for covering a ceiling fan blade and a closure member. The cover member is sized to cover the ceiling fan blade and has an open end and a closed end. The ceiling fan blade is inserted into the open end until the cover member substantially covers the ceiling fan blade. Thereafter, the closure member, proximal to the open end, is closed to prevent the ceiling fan blade cover from disengaging from the ceiling fan blade during rotation of the blade. For cleaning or redecorating, the ceiling fan blade cover is removed from the ceiling fan blade by opening the closure member withdrawing the ceiling fan blade cover in the direction of the closed end.

I claim:  
     
         1 . A removable ceiling fan blade cover for covering a ceiling fan blade of a ceiling fan, comprising: 
 a. a generally rectangular cover member having a length sufficient to substantially completely cover a ceiling fan blade, the generally rectangular cover defining an open first end and a closed second end, the open first end defining an opening having sufficient dimensional clearance to allow the ceiling fan blade to pass therethrough and substantially completely into the cover member; and    b. a closure member, proximal to the open first end of the ceiling fan blade cover and functional to reduce the dimensional clearance of the first open end to prevent unintended disengagement of the ceiling fan blade cover from the ceiling fan blade during exertion of a rotational force on the ceiling fan blade cover during rotation of the ceiling fan blade by the ceiling fan.    
     
     
         2 . The removable ceiling fan blade cover of  claim 1 , further comprising a sizing member.  
     
     
         3 . The removable ceiling fan blade cover of  claim 1 , wherein the closure member is a drawstring secured proximal to the open first end.  
     
     
         4 . The removable ceiling fan blade cover of  claim 1 , wherein the closure member is at least one snap proximal to the open first end.  
     
     
         5 . The removable ceiling fan blade cover of  claim 1 , wherein the closure member is a Velcro attachment proximal to the open first end.  
     
     
         6 . The removable ceiling fan blade cover of  claim 1 , wherein the closure member is a zipper proximal to the open first end.  
     
     
         7 . The removable ceiling fan blade cover of  claim 1 , wherein the closure member is an elastic member proximal to the open first end.  
     
     
         8 . The removable ceiling fan blade cover of  claim 2 , wherein the sizing member comprises a drawstring, slidably secured within the ceiling fan blade cover, the drawstring having a detente proximate to the open first end.  
     
     
         9 . The removable ceiling fan blade cover of  claim 2 , wherein the sizing member comprises a length of elastic integral to the ceiling fan blade cover and disposed in linear arrangement generally between the open first end and the closed second end, the length of elastic being biased so as to contract the ceiling fan blade cover.
