Information processing device, printing condition setting method, and computer product

Abstract

The CPU of a personal computer displays a list of one-click icons, each representing one or a plurality of printing functions, in the icon display area, and selects one one-click icon from the list of the one-click icons displayed in the icon display area, to automatically set a plurality of printing functions corresponding to the selected one-click icons.

What is claimed is:  
     
         1 . An information processing device comprising: 
 a display unit for displaying at least one display screen, wherein said display screen includes a symbol display area;    a symbol display control unit which displays a list of symbols, each representing a plurality of printing functions, in said symbol display area on said display screen;    a symbol selection unit which selects one symbol from the list of symbols displayed in said symbol display area; and    a printing function setting unit which sets a plurality of printing functions represented by the symbol selected by said symbol selection unit.    
     
     
         2 . The information processing device according to  claim 1 , further comprising: 
 a printing function display control unit which displays a plurality of printing functions in a printing function display area on said display screen;    a printing function selection unit which selects at least one printing function displayed in said printing function display area;    a symbol preparation unit which prepares a symbol representing the printing function selected by said printing function selection unit; and    a symbol registration unit which registers the printing function selected by said printing function selection unit in correlation with the symbol prepared by said symbol preparation unit.    
     
     
         3 . The information processing device according to  claim 2 , further comprising: 
 a symbol display unit which displays the symbol prepared by said symbol preparation unit in a prepared symbol display area on the display screen.    
     
     
         4 . The information processing device according to  claim 2 , wherein 
 said printing function display control unit displays a symbol group representing a single printing function in said printing function display area; and    said printing function selection unit selects a plurality of symbols from the symbol group displayed in said printing function display area, to select the printing functions respectively represented by said selected plurality of symbols.    
     
     
         5 . The information processing device according to  claim 2 , further comprising a memory unit which stores image data representing each printing function, wherein 
 said symbol preparation unit combines the image data stored in said memory unit, representing the printing function selected by said printing function selection unit, to prepare a symbol representing a plurality of printing functions.    
     
     
         6 . The information processing device according to  claim 1 , wherein the printing functions include a paper direction, a reversing function, an aggregation function, a binding function, a stapling function, a punching function and a scaling function.  
     
     
         7 . The information processing device according to  claim 1 , further comprising: 
 a rearrangement instruction unit which instructs rearrangement of symbols displayed in said symbol display area; and    a rearrangement unit which rearranges the symbols displayed in said symbol display area, in accordance with the rearrangement instructed by said rearrangement instruction unit.    
     
     
         8 . A printing condition setting method comprising the steps of: 
 displaying at least one display screen, wherein said display screen includes a symbol display area;    displaying a list of symbols, each representing a plurality of printing functions, in said symbol display area;    selecting one symbol from the list of symbols displayed in said symbol display area; and    setting a plurality of printing functions represented by the symbol selected in the symbol selection step.    
     
     
         9 . The printing condition setting method according to  claim 8 , further comprising the steps of: 
 displaying a printing function display area on said display screen, wherein said printing function display area includes a plurality of printing functions;    selecting at least one printing function displayed in said printing function display area;    preparing a symbol representing the selected printing function; and    registering the selected printing function in correlation with the prepared symbol.    
     
     
         10 . The printing condition setting method according to  claim 9 , further comprising the step of displaying said prepared symbol in a prepared symbol display area on the display screen.  
     
     
         11 . The printing condition setting method according to  claim 9 , wherein 
 in the step of displaying a printing function display area on said display screen, a symbol group representing a single printing function is displayed in said printing function display area; and    in the step of selecting the printing function, a plurality of symbols is selected from the symbol group displayed in said printing function display area, to select the printing functions respectively represented by said selected plurality of symbols.    
     
     
         12 . The printing condition setting method according to  claim 9 , further comprising the steps of: 
 reading image data representing the selected printing function from memory unit in which a plurality of image data representing the printing function is registered for each printing function; and    combining a plurality of image data and thereby preparing a symbol representing the selected printing function.    
     
     
         13 . The printing condition setting method according to  claim 8 , wherein the printing functions include a paper direction, a reversing function, an aggregation function, a binding function, a stapling function, a punching function and a scaling function.  
     
     
         14 . The printing condition setting method according to  claim 8 , further comprising: 
 instructing rearrangement of symbols displayed in said symbol display area; and    rearranging symbols displayed in said symbol display area, in accordance with the instructed rearrangement.    
     
     
         15 . A computer program for executing on a computer causes the computer to perform the steps of: 
 displaying at least one display screen, wherein said display screen includes a symbol display area;    displaying a list of symbols, each representing a plurality of printing functions, in said symbol display area;    selecting one symbol from the list of symbols displayed in said symbol display area; and    setting a plurality of printing functions represented by the symbol selected in the symbol selection step.
