Slip cover for seat back

Abstract

A slip cover for attaching to a collapsible chair can be quickly installed on and removed from the existing seat back of the chair. Primary and secondary fasteners releasably attach the panels of the slip cover to the chair's seat back. Indicia can be display on outer surfaces of the panels.

1 . A slip cover for attaching to a chair which comprises a seat back having an upper edge, lower edges, and sides extending between the upper edge and lower edges, said slip cover comprising: 
 (1) means for covering the seat back;    (2) means for attaching the slip cover to the chair; and    (3) indicia means.    
     
     
         2 . The slip cover of  claim 1 , wherein said means for covering the seat back comprises a plurality of panels, each of said panels having top, side and bottom edges; said means for attaching the slip cover to the chair comprises: (a) means for releasably holding the side edges of the panels together to form a casing that fits around the seat back; and (b) means for releasably holding the bottom edges of the panels together around the lower edges of the seat back.  
     
     
         3 . The slip cover of  claim 2  wherein said means for releasably holding the side edges of the panels together comprise at least one primary fastener which is releasable.  
     
     
         4 . The slip cover of  claim 3  wherein said at least one primary fastener comprises an elongated securing element.  
     
     
         5 . The slip cover of  claim 4  wherein said elongated securing element comprises a cooperating hook and loop strip.  
     
     
         6 . The slip cover of  claim 3  wherein said means for releasably holding the bottom edges of the panels together around the lower edges of the seat back comprise at least one secondary fastener which is releasable.  
     
     
         7 . The slip cover of  claim 6  wherein each of said at least one secondary fastener comprises a snap.  
     
     
         8 . The slip cover of  claim 7  wherein said snap comprises a male portion disposed on one of the plurality of panels and a female portion disposed on another of said plurality of panels, said female portion adapted to engage the male portion.  
     
     
         9 . The slip cover of  claim 2  wherein said means for releasably holding the bottom edges of the panels together around the lower edges of the seat back are disposed adjacent the bottom edges of the panels.  
     
     
         10 . A slip cover for attaching to a collapsible chair which comprises a folding frame and a support sling having a seat portion and a seat back, said seat back including an upper edge, at least one lower edge, and a pair of sides extending between the upper and at least one lower edge, said slip cover comprising: 
 a first flexible panel having a pair of side edges, a top edge and a bottom edge, a first panel outer surface and a first panel inner surface;    a second flexible panel having a pair of side edges, a top edge and a bottom edge, a second panel outer surface and a second panel inner surface;    a juncture;    a plurality of primary fasteners for holding the side edges of the panels together around the sides of the seat back; and    at least one secondary fastener for holding the bottom edges of the panels together around the at least one lower edge of the seat back;    wherein said top edges of the first and second flexible panels are attached along the juncture.    
     
     
         11 . The slip cover of  claim 10  further comprising indicia means disposed on the outer surface of at least one of said first and second panels.  
     
     
         12 . The slip cover of  claim 11  wherein said plurality of primary fasteners includes left and right primary fasteners, said left primary fastener is disposed along one side of the first panel and one side of the second panel, and said right primary fastener is disposed along the other side of the first panel and the other side of the second panel.  
     
     
         13 . The slip cover of  claim 12  wherein each of said primary fasteners comprises a cooperating elongated securing element.  
     
     
         14 . The slip cover of  claim 13  wherein said cooperating elongated securing element comprises a hook and loop strip.  
     
     
         15 . The slip cover of  claim 14  wherein the support sling of the chair includes a notch disposed adjacent to the at least one lower edge, and said at least one secondary fastener extends through said notch when the slip cover is installed on the chair.  
     
     
         16 . The slip cover of  claim 12  wherein said at least one secondary fastener includes left and right secondary fasteners, said left and right secondary fasteners are disposed near the bottom edges of the first and second panels with the left secondary fastener being nearer the left primary fastener and the right secondary fastener being nearer the right primary fastener.  
     
     
         17 . The slip cover of  claim 16 , wherein the at least one lower edge of the seat back comprises a pair of lower edges, and said support sling includes a pair of notches, wherein each notch is disposed adjacent to a respective lower edge, the left secondary fastener is positioned in one notch and the right secondary fastener positioned in the other notch when the slip cover is attached to the chair.  
     
     
         18 . The slip cover of  claim 16 , wherein said juncture further comprises a flexible U-shaped binding including a first and second leg, and at least one seam.  
     
     
         19 . The slip cover of  claim 18 , wherein said first and second legs are adjacent the respective outer surfaces of the first and second panels; and said at least one seam extends through said first and second legs and said first and second panels.  
     
     
         20 . The slip cover of  claim 16  wherein the left and right secondary fasteners engage adjacent to the at least one lower edge of the seat back.  
     
     
         21 . The slip cover of  claim 16 , wherein each of said left and right secondary fasteners comprises a snap.  
     
     
         22 . The slip cover of  claim 11  wherein said at least one secondary fastener includes left and right secondary fasteners, said left and right secondary fasteners are disposed near the bottom edges of the first and second panels with the left secondary fastener being nearer the left primary fastener and the right secondary fastener being nearer the right primary fastener.  
     
     
         23 . The slip cover of  claim 22 , wherein the at least one lower edge of the seat back comprises a pair of lower edges, and said support sling includes a pair of notches, wherein each notch is disposed adjacent to a respective lower edge, the left secondary fastener is positioned in one notch and the right secondary fastener positioned in the other notch when the slip cover is attached to the chair.  
     
     
         24 . A slip cover attached to a collapsible chair, 
 said collapsible chair comprising a folding frame and a support sling including a seat portion and a seat back; said seat back having an upper edge, at least one lower edge, and a pair of sides extending between the upper and at least one lower edge; said support sling further including at least one notch adjacent to said at least one lower edge;    said slip cover comprising first and second flexible panels, at least one primary fastener and at least one secondary fastener;    said first flexible panel having a pair of side edges, a top edge and a bottom edge, a first panel inner surface and a first panel outer surface;    said second flexible panel having a pair of side edges, a top edge and a bottom edge, a second panel inner surface and a second panel outer surface, wherein said first and second flexible panels are attached along said respective top edges;    said at least one primary fasteners is releasable and holds the side edges of the first and second panels together to form a casing which fits over the seat back;    said at least one secondary fastener is releasable and holds the bottom edges of the first and second panels together around the at least one lower edge of the seat back, wherein said at least one secondary fastener is positioned in said at least one notch of the support sling.    
     
     
         25 . The slip cover of  claim 24 , further comprising indicia means on at least one of said first or second flexible panels.  
     
     
         26 . A slip cover for attaching to a collapsible chair which comprises a folding frame and a support sling having a pair of notches, a seat portion and a seat back, said seat back including a front surface, a back surface, an upper edge, side edges, and lower edges, said slip cover comprising: (1) means for covering the seat back, (2) means for attaching the slip cover to the chair, and (3) indicia means; 
 said means for covering the seat back comprising a first rectangular panel, a second rectangular panel, and a juncture;    said first rectangular panel is made of fabric and has a pair of opposing side edges, an opposing top and bottom edge, a first panel outer surface, and a first panel inner surface,    said second rectangular panel is made of fabric and has a pair of opposing side edges, and an opposing top and bottom edge, a second panel outer surface and a second panel inner surface;    wherein said top edge of said first panel is attached to said top edge of said second panel;    said juncture comprises a flexible U-shaped binding and at least one seam, said U-shaped binding having a first leg and a second leg;    wherein said first leg is positioned adjacent the outer surface of the first panel and extends along the top edge thereof, said second leg is positioned adjacent the outer surface of the second panel and extends along the top edge thereof, and said at least one seam extends through the first leg of the U-shaped binding, the first panel, the second panel, and the second leg of the U-shaped binding;    indicia means comprises a display on said outer surface of at least one of said first and second panels;    said means for attaching the slip cover to the chair comprises a plurality of primary fasteners for holding the side edges of the first and second panels together to form a casing that fits around the seat back and a plurality of secondary fasteners for holding the bottom edges of the first and second panels together around the lower edges of the seat back;    said plurality of primary fasteners are releasable and include left and right primary fasteners;    said left primary fastener is an elongated securing element comprising cooperating hook and loop strips; wherein one of said hook or loop strips is disposed on the first panel inner surface along one of said side edges of the first panel, and an other of said hook or loop strips is disposed on the second panel inner surface along one of said side edges of said second panel; and said right primary fastener is an elongated securing element comprising cooperating hook and loop strips, wherein one of said hook or loop strips is disposed on the first panel inner surface extending along the other of said side edges of said first panel, and the other of said hook or loop strip is disposed on the second panel inner surface extending along the other of said side edges of the second panel; wherein said left hook strip releasably attaches to said left loop strip, and said right hook strip releasably attaches to said right loop strip; and    said plurality of secondary fasteners are releasable and include left and right secondary fasteners;    said left secondary fastener comprises a snap having cooperating male and female portions, wherein one of said male or female portions is located on the first panel inner surface adjacent to the bottom edge thereof, and an other of said male or female portions is located on the second panel inner surface adjacent to the bottom edge thereof; said one male or female portion is further disposed adjacent to one of said side edges of the first panel while said other male or female portion is further disposed adjacent to one of said side edges of said second panel; and said right secondary fastener comprises a snap having cooperating male and female portions, wherein one of said male or female portions is located on the first inner surface of the first panel adjacent to the bottom edge thereof, and an other of said male or female portions is located on the second panel inner surface adjacent to the bottom edge thereof; said one male or female portion is further disposed adjacent to an other of said side edges of said first panel, and said other cooperating male or female portion is disposed adjacent to the other of said side edges of said second panel; wherein each of said female portions releasably attaches to a respective one of said cooperating male portions.
