Abstract

Recoloring an object may be performed by calculating an offset in the hue, saturation and luminance between the source and destination colors. The source image is then adjusted using these offsets to produce the desired color.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

1 . A method for adjusting color of a portion of an input image, including:
receiving an indication of a source color and a destination color; computing the difference between the source color and destination color to identify offsets between sets of values defining the source color and the destination color; identifying pixels in the portion of the input image as similar to the source color; and adjusting the identified pixels using the offsets computed, to produce a color adjusted image.

2 . The method of claim 1 , the step of adjusting further comprising:
computing adjustment values from the offsets, the adjustment values and a set of values defining color for the pixels in the input image being combined to produce color adjusted output pixels.

3 . The method of claim 2 , the step of adjusting further comprising:
adding an adjustment value to a value from the set defining color for a pixel in the input image.

4 . The method of claim 3 , the step of adjusting further comprising:
multiplying an adjustment value by a value from the set defining color for a pixel in the input image.

5 . An apparatus for manipulating color of a portion of an image, including:
a difference calculator for determining offsets in the components of the source color and a destination color; and a color adjustment module receives indications of the pixels to be modified and modifies the pixels of the selected portion of the image according to the determined offsets to provide a color adjusted image.

6 . A recolored image produced by a method including:
receiving an indication of a source color and a destination color; computing the difference between the source color and destination color to identify offsets between sets of values defining the source color and the destination color; identifying pixels in the portion of the input image as similar to the source color; and adjusting the identified pixels using the offsets computed, to produce a color adjusted image.

7 . The image of claim 6 , wherein the step of adjusting further comprises:
computing adjustment values from the offsets, the adjustment values and a set of values defining color for the pixels in the input image being combined to produce color adjusted output pixels.

8 . The image of claim 7 , the step of adjusting further comprising:
adding an adjustment value to a value from the set defining color for a pixel in the input image.

9 . The image of claim 8 , the step of adjusting further comprising:
multiplying an adjustment value by a value from the set defining color for a pixel in the input image.

10 . An entertainment product including a recolored image produced by a method including:
receiving an indication of a source color and a destination color; computing the difference between the source color and destination color to identify offsets between sets of values defining the source color and the destination color; identifying pixels in the portion of the input image as similar to the source color; and adjusting the identified pixels using the offsets computed, to produce a color adjusted image.

11 . The entertainment product of claim 10 , wherein the step of adjusting further comprises:
computing adjustment values from the offsets, the adjustment values and a set of values defining color for the pixels in the input image being combined to produce color adjusted output pixels.

12 . The entertainment product of claim 11 , the step of adjusting further comprising:
adding an adjustment value to a value from the set defining color for a pixel in the input image.

13 . The entertainment product of claim 12 , the step of adjusting further comprising:
multiplying an adjustment value by a value from the set defining color for a pixel in the input image.
