Abstract

A downhole tool for cleaning internal surfaces of subsea drilling rig equipment, including drilling risers, blowout preventor assemblies and wellhead assemblies, as well as for retrieving wear bushings, comprising an elongated support body, at least a pair of scraper blades and wash ports. A unique method of cleaning internal surfaces of subsea drilling rig equipment and retrieving a wear bushing in a single operation.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

1 . A tool for cleaning subsea drilling equipment comprising:
 a. an elongate tubular member having an upper end, a lower end and a central bore longitudually disposed therethrough; b. connecting means at said upper end; c. connecting means at said lower end; d. a plurality of blades extending radially outward from the outer surface of said elongate tubular member; and e. a plurality of wash ports extending through said elongate tubular member, communicating said central bore with the outer surface of said tool.

2 . A tool as defined in claim 1 , wherein a plurality of said wash ports extend through said blades.

3 . A tool as defined in claim 2 , further comprising a wear bushing retrieving tool affixed to the lower end of said tool.

4 . A method of cleaning subsea drilling equipment comprising:
 a. lowering a wash tool into a wellbore to be washed on a workstring; b. reciprocating said wash tool along the surface to be washed; c. retrieving a wear bushing; and d. retrieving the wash tool and wear bushing out of the wellbore.

5 . The method defined in claim 4 , further comprising the step of pumping fluid into the drill pipe, and circulating said fluid out said wash tool and up the wellbore annulus.

6 . The method defined in claim 5 , further comprising the step of rotating said wash tool.
