Tie for forms for pouring concrete

Abstract

A system of preparing a form for the pouring of concrete for foundations and the like. The system includes a series of tracks for holding of forming insulation material or the like. The tracks are held by ties having ends readily attachable to ribs on the tracks for rapid and convenient assembly. The tracks are formed to hold insulating panels in a spaced parallel relationship. The ties and tracks mate together in a holding relation easily engageable.

I claim as my invention:  
     
         1 . A wall for a form adapted to hold concrete while being poured into that form, said wall comprising a plurality of panels adjoining each other on substantially horizontal and a substantially vertical junctures, said panels having horizontal edges at said horizontal junctures, channel means receiving said edges for aligning and supporting said panels in a fixed aligned relationship.  
     
     
         2 . The wall of  claim 1  in which said channel means extend along said horizontal edges for at least one-half the length of the panel edges.  
     
     
         3 . The wall of  claim 2  in which said channel means extend along said horizontal edges and across said vertical junctures of said panels.  
     
     
         4 . The wall of  claim 3  in which said channel means between said panels have an H-shaped cross-section thus forming an upper trench and a lower trench, said panel edges being engaged within said trenches, and channel shaped cap means of U-shaped cross sections supporting the bottom edges of the bottom panels of said wall and supporting the top edges of the top panel of said wall.  
     
     
         5 . A form for pouring concrete comprising a pair of parallel walls, each wall comprising a plurality of panels having horizontal edges and vertical edges, extending channel means engaging said horizontal edges to hold said edges in alignment with abutting panels, said channel means having internal flanges engaging the side of said panels facing the opposite parallel wall, holding tracks extending the length of said internal flanges, and tie means engageable with said tracks for holding said walls in spaced parallel relationship.  
     
     
         6 . The form of  claim 5  in which said tie means and said tracks have mating male and female cross sections by which said tie means are readily fastened to said track.  
     
     
         7 . The form of  claim 6  in which said cross sections are in the form of a barbed arrowhead whereby the barbs of said arrowhead engage mating hollows to hold said ties fastened to said track.  
     
     
         8 . For use in a system of construction forms for pouring concrete walls having a series of pairs of panels held in spaced parallel relationship, a spacing device adapted to hold said panels in said spaced relationship comprising holding means for holding said panels and individual tie devices engageable with said holding means, said tie devices and said holding means being formed with mated engaging means for holding said holding means and tie devices together.  
     
     
         9 . The spacing device of  claim 8  in which each panel of said pair of panels has a top and a bottom , said tracks including a base track at the bottom and a cap track at the top, said panels also being held between the bottom and top of said walls by regular tracks having a cross section generally H-shaped.  
     
     
         10 . The spacing device of  claim 8  in which said tie devices and said holding means are formed to provide a readily engageable and disengageable means for holding said tie devices to said holding means.  
     
     
         11 . The spacing device of  claim 8  in which said holding means comprises tracks having flanges engageable with the sides of said panels at the edges thereof to hold said panels in place on said tracks.  
     
     
         12 . The spacing device of  claim 8  in which said mated engaging means include mating formations formed of two parts including a female part and a male part, one of said two parts being formed as a strip on said holding means and a second of said parts being formed on the ends of said tie devices.  
     
     
         13 . The spacing device of  claim 12  in which said one of two parts has a cross section in the shape of an arrow head and said second of said parts has a cross section in the shape of a hollow adapted to mate with said one of two parts.  
     
     
         14 . The spacing device of  claim 13  in which said arrow head shape includes a shank engaging said holding means, said arrow head shape also having a pointed end having barbs, said barbs including surfaces engaging said shank at an acute angle.
