Claims

Abstract

A composite assembly for assembling documents and including a substrate sheet, and adhesive layer, and a release liner disposed over the adhesive layer. The release liner includes a tab extending from a lateral surface of the substrate sheet. To assemble a document, the pages of the document are printed on the substrate sheets, the substrate sheets are ordered and aligned, the release liners are removed by the tab being grasped and pulled to peel the release liners from the adhesive layers, and the pages are bonded together by pressure.

What is claimed is:  
     
         1 . A composite sheet assembly, comprising: 
 a substrate sheet with a lower surface and first and second converging edges;    an adhesive layer disposed on the lower surface proximate the first edge of the substrate sheet; and    a release liner disposed over the adhesive layer and comprising a tab extending from the substrate sheet second edge.    
     
     
         2 . The composite assembly of  claim 1 , the substrate sheet having a portion of reduced thickness, the adhesive layer being disposed on a surface of said portion of reduced thickness.  
     
     
         3 . The composite assembly of  claim 1 , the substrate sheet comprising a material selected from bond, clay-coated paper, polymeric material, and carbonless paper.  
     
     
         4 . The composite assembly of  claim 1 , the adhesive layer comprising an adhesive selected from low-peel, pressure-sensitive adhesive and high-peel, pressure-sensitive adhesive.  
     
     
         5 . The composite assembly of  claim 1 , the release liner comprising silicone.  
     
     
         6 . The composite assembly of  claim 1 , the release liner comprising a material selected from a silicone, an acrylate, a urethane, a polyolefin, and a polyvinyl carbamate.  
     
     
         7 . A process of making a document, comprising: 
 arranging a plurality of composite sheet assemblies in a desired order, at least one of the composite sheet assemblies comprising a substrate sheet, an adhesive layer, and a release liner including an extension, the substrate sheet having a first edge and opposite second and third edges intersecting the first edge, the adhesive layer disposed on a substrate sheet lower surface proximate the substrate sheet first edge, the release liner disposed over the adhesive layer such that the release liner extension extends past one of the substrate sheet second and third edges;    removing the release liners by grasping each of said release liner extensions and peeling each said release liner away from an underlying adhesive layer; and    bonding the plurality of composite sheets together.    
     
     
         8 . The process of  claim 7 , further comprising aligning one of said edges of each substrate sheet.  
     
     
         8 . The process of  claim 8 , wherein said aligned edges are generally linearly aligned.  
     
     
         9 . The process of  claim 7 , wherein the release liners are removed by pulling each said release liner extension so that said release liner extension is loosened from the underlying adhesive layer.  
     
     
         10 . The process of  claim 7 , further comprising printing indicia on at least one of said plurality of substrate sheets.  
     
     
         11 . The process of  claim 7 , further comprising aligning one of said first, second and third edges of each substrate sheet and fixing the aligned substrate sheets.  
     
     
         12 . The process of  claim 11 , wherein fixing the aligned substrate sheets comprises pressing said aligned substrate sheets with a press.  
     
     
         13 . The process of  claim 11 , wherein fixing the aligned substrate sheets comprises disposing an aligning structure in a plurality of holes, said plurality of holes uniformly defined in each said substrate sheet.  
     
     
         14 . The process of  claim 7 , wherein bonding the plurality of substrate sheets comprises pressing the plurality of release sheets so that each said adhesive layer bonds to a contacting composite sheet surface.  
     
     
         15 . A method of making a composite sheet assembly, comprising: 
 disposing an adhesive layer over a surface of a substrate sheet; and    overlaying the adhesive layer with a release layer with an extension such that the release layer extension extends beyond a first edge of the substrate sheet.    
     
     
         16 . The method of  claim 15 , wherein said adhesive layer is disposed proximate a substrate sheet second edge, the substrate sheet second edge being generally transverse to the substrate sheet first edge.  
     
     
         17 . The method of  claim 15 , wherein the disposed adhesive layer comprises a material selected from a low-peel, pressure-sensitive adhesive and a high-peel, pressure-sensitive adhesive.  
     
     
         18 . The method of  claim 15 , wherein the overlayed release layer comprises a material selected form a silicone, an acrylate, a urethane, a polyolefin, and a polyvinyl carbamate.  
     
     
         19 . The method of  claim 15 , wherein a portion of the substrate sheet is crushed and wherein the adhesive layer is disposed in the crushed portion.  
     
     
         20 . The method of  claim 15 , further comprising forming a series of perforations in the substrate sheet.  
     
     
         21 . The method of  claim 15 , further comprising a plurality of holes in the substrate sheet.
