Method for marking a fairway

Abstract

A method for marking a fairway. having a teeing area associated therewith, to enable a golfer to judge distance and accuracy of golf balls struck onto said fairway from the teeing area, said method consisting of marking distance indicators on the fairway in the form of a first set of lines that are spaced from the teeing area and are spaced apart, with each line being a substantially constant distance from the teeing area, and marking accuracy indicators on the fairway in the form of a second set of lines that extend outwardly from the teeing area and dare substantially normal to the teeing area.

The claims defining the invention are as follows:  
     
         1 . A method for marking a fairway, having a teeing area associated therewith, to enable a golfer to judge distance and accuracy of golf balls struck onto said fairway from the teeing area, said method comprising the steps of: 
 marking distance indicating means on the fairway in the form of a first set of lines that are spaced from the teeing area and are spaced apart, with each line being a substantially constant distance from the teeing area; and    marking accuracy indicating means on the fairway in tho form of a second set of lines that extend outwardly from the teeing area and are substantially normal to the teeing area.    
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein said lines in the first set of lines are spaced apart by a distance corresponding to the typical difference between lengths of stroke of adjacent clubs.  
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein said lines in the first set of lines are spaced apart by a distance of approximately 10 meters.  
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein said lines in the second set of lines are spaced apart by the width of a typical fairway on a golf course.  
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the method further comprises the step of marking obstacle-indicating means on the fairway.  
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 5 , wherein the obstacle-indicating means take the form of a first set of marks that are painted onto the fairway.  
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 6 . wherein the first set of marks represent the location of sand bunkers, bodies of water and rough terrain.  
     
     
         8 . The method of  claim 6 . wherein said first set of marks is colour-coded according to the type of obstacle represented,  
     
     
         9 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the method further comprises the step of marking target-indicating means on the fairway.  
     
     
         10 . The method of  claim 9 , wherein the target indicating means take the form of a second set of marks that are painted onto the fairway  
     
     
         11 . The method of  claim 10 , wherein the second sot of marks indicates the location of greens.  
     
     
         12 . In a fairway having a teeing area associated therewith, an improved set of markings on said fairway to enable a golfer to judge distance and accuracy of golf balls struck onto said fairway from said teeing area, comprising: 
 distance indicating means in the form of. a first set of lines that are spaced from the teeing area and are spaced apart, with each line being a substantially constant distance from the teeing area:    accuracy indicating means in the form of a second sot of lines that extend outwardly from the teeing area and are substantially normal to the teeing area.    
     
     
         13 . The markings of  claim 12 , wherein said lines in the first set of lines are spaced apart by a distance corresponding to the typical difference between lengths of stroke of adjacent clubs.  
     
     
         14 . The markings of  claim 12 , wherein said lines in the first set of lines are spaced apart by a distance of approximately 10 meters.  
     
     
         15 . The markings of  claim 12 , wherein the lines in the second set of lines are spaced apart by the width of a typical fairway on a golf course.  
     
     
         16 . The markings of  claim 12 , further comprising obstacle-indicating means.  
     
     
         17 . The markings of  claim 16 , wherein the obstacle-indicating means comprise a first set of marks that are painted onto the fairway.  
     
     
         18 . The markings of  claim 17 , wherein the first set of marks represent the location of and bunkers, bodies of water and rough terrain.  
     
     
         19 . The markings of  claim 17 , wherein said first set of marks is colour-coded according to the type of obstacle represented.  
     
     
         20 . The markings of  claim 12 , wherein said markings further comprise target-indicating means.  
     
     
         21 . The markings of  claim 20 . wherein the target indicating means take the form of a second set of marks that are painted onto the fairway.  
     
     
         22 . The markings of  claim 20 , the second set of marks indicates the location of greens.  
     
     
         23 . A method for marking a fairway, having a teeing area associated therewith, to enable a golfer to judge distance and accuracy of golf balls struck onto said fairway from the teeing area, comprising the step of marking distance indicating means on the fairway in the form of a first set of lines that are spaced from the teeing area and are spaced apart with each line being a substantially constant distance from the teeing area.  
     
     
         24 . A method for marking a fairway, having a teeing area associated therewith, to enable a goiter to judge distance and accuracy of golf balls struck onto said fairway from the teeing area, comprising the step of marking accuracy indicating means on the fairway in the form of a second set of lines that extend outwardly from the teeing area and are substantially normal to the teeing area.  
     
     
         25 . A method for marking a fairway, having a teeing area associated therewith, to enable a golfer to judge distance and accuracy of golf balls struck onto said fairway from the teeing area, comprising the step of marking obstacle-indicating means on the fairway.  
     
     
         26 . A method for marking a fairway, having a teeing area associated therewith, to enable a golfer to judge distance and accuracy of golf balls stuck onto said fairway from the teeing area, comprising the step of marking target-indicating means on the fairway.
