Abstract
Compositions and application to moulding of consumer goods, which contain styrene polymers, styrene copolymers, or their blends and articles moulded from these compositions having an intense, bright color and resistance to surface marking. The compositions containing styrene polymers and/or copolymers according to the invention comprise, in relation to the total weight of the polymers and/or copolymers in the composition: (a) less than 4% of internal lubricant; and (b) 2 to 10% of vaseline oil.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A composition containing styrene polymers, styrene copolymers, or their blends, characterized in that it comprises, in relation to the total weight of the polymers and/or copolymers in the composition:
(a) optionally, less than 2% of internal lubricant; and (b) about 2 to 10% by weight of at least a transparent external lubricant selected from the group consisting of: i) oily solvents of mineral or vegetable oil; ii) liquid silicones; iii) a glycol polymer; and d) a glycol.
2 . The composition according to claim 1 , wherein said oily solvent is a vaseline oil.
3 . The composition according to claim 2 , wherein said transparent external lubricant is present in an amount about of about 3 to 7 wt. %.
4 . The composition according to claim 1 , wherein said internal lubricant is less than about 0.10 wt. %.
5 . The composition according to claim 1 , wherein the styrene polymers and copolymers are chosen from among styrene homopolymers and copolymers, alkylstyrene, high impact strength polystyrenes (HIPS), and grafted styrene polymers and copolymers.
6 . The composition according to claim 1 , wherein the styrene polymers and copolymers are chosen from among acrylonitrile/butadiene/styrene (ABS) resins, methyl methacrylate/butadiene/acrylonitrile/styrene (MABS) resins, grafted styrene/butadiene resins (HIPS), methyl methacrylate/butadiene/styrene (MBS) resins, styrene/acrylonitrile (SAN) copolymers, acrylonitrile/styrene/butyl acrylate (ASA) copolymers, styrene/methacrylic ester copolymers, styrene/acrylonitrile/maleic anhydride (SAMA) resins, styrene/maleic anhydride resins, styrene/butadiene/styrene (SBS) copolymers, butyl rubbers (SBR) and their mixtures.
7 . The composition according to claim 6 , wherein the styrene polymers and copolymers are chosen from among the ABS resins, blends of ABS resins and SAN copolymers, blends of ABS resins and polycarbonates, and blends of ABS resins and polybutylene terephthalate.
8 . The composition according to claim 7 , further comprises one or more adjuvants chosen from among fillers, pigments, dyes, UV stabilizers, antioxidants, flame retardants, and antistatic agents.
9 . Use to improve the intensity of the colors, the gloss, and the resistance to surface marking of articles manufactured from a composition containing styrene polymers, styrene copolymers, or their blends comprising, in relation to the total weight of the polymers and/or copolymers present in the composition, about 2 to 10% by weight of at least an transparent external lubricant selected from the group consisting of: i) oily solvents of mineral or vegetable oil; ii) liquid silicones; iii) a glycol polymer; and d) a glycol, and optionally about less than 2% by weight of an internal lubricant.
10 . The use according to claim 9 , characterized in that the quantity of internal lubricant in the composition is less than 0.1% by weight.
11 . The use according to claim 9 , characterized in that the quantity of the external lubricant in the composition is about 3 to 7% by weight.
12 . The use according to claim 9 , characterized in that the external lubricant is vaseline oil.
13 . An article moulded from a composition of claim 1 .
14 . A process for producing a novel thermoplastic composition, comprising the steps of:
(a) preparing a styrenic polymer component comprising styrene polymers, styrene copolymers, or their blends; (c) blending a mixture comprising said styrenic polymer component with about 2 to 10% by weight in relation to the total weight of the styrenc polymer component of at least a transparent external lubricant selected from the group consisting of: i) oily solvents of mineral or vegetable oil; ii) liquid silicones; iii) a glycol polymer; and d) a glycol, and optionally, less than 2% of internal lubricant.
15 . The process of claim 14 , wherein said oily solvent is vaseline oil.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
