Abstract

A document drafting system generates a document having a required sequence, including one or more screens to receive text input; an electronic agent to review the text input, to apply one or more diagnostic rules to the text input and to generate zero or more diagnostic messages; a visualization system coupled to one screen to graphically display one or more relationships between one or more text portions in the document; and a document generator to assemble the text input into the document according to the sequence.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

         1 . A document drafting system to generate a document having a required sequence, comprising:
 one or more screens to receive text input; an electronic agent to review the text input, to apply one or more diagnostic rules to the text input and to generate zero or more diagnostic messages; a visualization system coupled to one screen to graphically display one or more relationships between one or more text portions in the document; and a document generator to assemble the text input into the document according to the sequence.

         2 . The document drafting system of claim 1 , wherein the document is comprised of one or more sections, further comprising a window to display help associated with the section.

         3 . The document drafting system of claim 1 , wherein the document is comprised of one or more sections, further comprising a window to display an example associated with the section.

         4 . The document drafting system of claim 1 , wherein the electronic agent detects antecedent basis errors.

         5 . The document drafting system of claim 1 , wherein the electronic agent detects connectivity errors.

         6 . The document drafting system of claim 1 , wherein the visualization system graphically display relationships between claim elements.

         7 . The document drafting system of claim 1 , further comprising a document transmitter to electronically send the document.

         8 . The document drafting system of claim 7 , wherein the document is electronically filed with a national patent office.

         9 . An intellectual property (IP) system, comprising:
 a plurality of workstations serving users each having a predetermined IP interest; an IP portal coupled to the user workstations and adapted to respond to the users' interests, the IP portal serving a patent drafting system to generate a patent application having a required sequence, including:
 one or more screens to receive text input;
 an electronic patent agent to review the text input, to apply one or more diagnostic rules to the text input and to generate zero or more diagnostic messages;
 a claim visualizer to graphically display one or more relationships between one or more claim elements in the patent application; and
 a patent application generator to assemble the patent application according to the sequence; and
   a network of IP specialists adapted to electronically receive the patent application and to provide value added services to the patent application.

         10 . The IP system of claim 1 , wherein the IP portal is a server coupled to the Internet.
