Abstract
A trim for sealing joints between a horizontal surface and a vertical surface against water penetration has an elongated body with a front-side and a back-side. The front-side has a curvature having a convex part and a concave part that together forming a continuous curvature to channel the flow of water away from the joint. The back-side has at least two recesses for an adhesive-sealant application, where the first recess is used for adhering to the vertical wall and the second is used adhering to the joint. The trim can be made of ceramic or plastic.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A ceramic trim for sealing a joint between a vertical and a horizontal surface against water penetration comprising:
an elongated trim with a glazed front-side and an unglazed back-side; the front-side having a continuous S-shape curvature having a convex and a concave portion; the back-side having a plurality of recesses for holding an adhesive-sealant compound.
2 . The claim as in 1 , wherein, the front-side having an upper-part and a lower-part; wherein the convex portion is on the upper-part and the concave portion is on the lower-part.
3 . The claim as in 2 , wherein, the back-side having a first recess on the upper-part and a second recess on the lower part.
4 . The claim as in 3 , wherein, the trim having a flat left-edge and a flat right-edge, for joining a plurality of trims side by side.
5 . The claim as in 4 , wherein, either the right-edge or the left-edge having a glazed 45 degree bevel, for joining two trims at a 90 degree angle.
6 . The claim as in 5 , having a method of installing the trim, comprising the steps of:
applying a bead of the adhesive-sealant at the corner between the vertical and horizontal surfaces; applying adhesive-sealant to the back-side and affixing on the vertical surface, while resting on the bead; and applying the adhesive-sealant to edges of the trim, while laying additional trims side by side.
7 . The claim as in 6 , having a method of installing the trim, comprising the additional step of positioning two 45 degree bevel trims side by side to make a 90 degree angle between the trims.
8 . The claim as in 7 , having a method of installing the trim, comprising the additional step of using one 45 degree bevel trim to make it the last trim.
9 . A plastic trim for sealing a joint between a vertical and a horizontal surface against water penetration comprising:
an elongated trim with a finished-polished front-side and an unfinished-unpolished back-side; the front-side having a continuous S-shape curvature having a convex and a concave portion; the back-side having a plurality of recesses for holding an adhesive-sealant compound.
10 . The claim as in 9 , wherein, the front-side having an upper-part and a lower-part; wherein the convex portion is on the upper-part and the concave portion is on the lower-part.
11 . The claim as in 10 , wherein, the back-side having a first recess on the upper-part and a second recess on the lower part.
12 . The claim as in 11 , wherein, the trim having a flat left-edge and a flat right-edge, for joining a plurality of trims side by side.
13 . The claim as in 12 , wherein, either the right-edge or the left-edge having a glazed 45 degree bevel, for joining two trims at a 90 degree angle.
14 . The claim as in 13 , having a method of installing the trim, comprising the steps of:
applying a bead of the adhesive-sealant at the corner between the vertical and horizontal surfaces; applying adhesive-sealant to the back-side and affixing on the vertical surface, while resting on the bead; and applying the adhesive-sealant to ends of the trim, while laying additional trims side by side.
15 . The claim as in 14 , having a method of installing the trim, comprising the additional step of positioning two 45 degree bevel trims side by side to make a 90 degree angle between the trims.
16 . The claim as in 15 , having a method of installing the trim, comprising the additional step of using one 45 degree bevel trim to make it the last trim.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
