Abstract

A closure system comprised of a passive surface, an engageable surface and an adhesive surface that may be applied to a number or surfaces such as paper and plastic.

I claim:  
     
         1 . A closure system comprising: 
 (a) an engageable surface;    (b) a passive surface;    (c) a means for engaging said engageable surface;    wherein said passive surface and said means for engaging said engageable surface are juxtaposed to one another on said engageable surface, so that said passive means and said means for engaging said engageable surface associate with one another in a first unsealed position; and said means for engaging said engageable surface associates with said engageable surface in a second sealed position.    
     
     
         2 . A closure system as claimed in    claim 1    wherein said passive means and said means for engaging said engageable surface are disposed parallel to one another.  
     
     
         3 . A closure system as claimed in    claim 2    wherein said means for engaging said engageable surface is further defined by a pressure sensitive adhesive.  
     
     
         4 . A closure system as claimed in    claim 2    wherein said passive surface is further defined by a release film.  
     
     
         5 . A closure system as claimed in    claim 4    wherein said release film is a silicone release coating.  
     
     
         6 . A closure system as claimed in    claim 1    wherein said engageable surface is paper.  
     
     
         7 . A closure system as claimed in    claim 1    wherein said engageable surface is plastic.  
     
     
         8 . A closure system as claimed in    claim 7    wherein said closure system is applied to paper envelopes.  
     
     
         9 . A closure system as claimed in    claim 2    wherein said closure system is applied to a two-way mailer comprising an outgoing mailer and a return mailer and said engageable surface is paper.  
     
     
         10 . A closure system as claimed in    claim 9    wherein said closure system is applied to both said outgoing mailer and said return mailer and said return mailer is further defined as a return envelope.  
     
     
         11 . A closure system as claimed in    claim 2    wherein said closure system is applied to a return mailer form and said engageable surface is paper.  
     
     
         12 . A closure system as claimed in    claim 11    wherein said return mailer form comprises a statement portion and a return envelope.  
     
     
         13 . A closure system as claimed in    claim 2    wherein said closure system is applied to a V-fold form and said engageable surface is paper.  
     
     
         14 . A closure system as claimed in    claim 13    wherein said V-fold form comprises two connected panels, each panel having a closure system that associates with the other so that said passive means of said first panel and said means for engaging said engageable surface of said second panel associate; and said passive means of said second panel and said means for engaging said engageable surface of said first panel associate.  
     
     
         15 . A closure system as claimed in    claim 14    wherein said two panels are connected by a series of perforations that allow for the separation of said two panels.  
     
     
         16 . A closure system applied to various materials comprising: 
 (a) an engageable surface;    (b) a release film;    (c) an adhesive surface;    wherein said release film and said adhesive surface are applied parallel to one another on said engageable surface, so that said release film and said adhesive surface associate with one another in a first unsealed position; and said adhesive surface associates with said engageable surface in a second sealed position.    
     
     
         17 . A closure system as claimed in    claim 16    wherein said adhesive surface is further defined by a dry, pressure sensitive adhesive.  
     
     
         18 . A closure system as claimed in    claim 16    wherein said engageable surface is paper.  
     
     
         19 . A closure system as claimed in    claim 16    wherein said engageable surface is plastic.  
     
     
         20 . A closure system as claimed in    claim 16    wherein said closure system is applied to paper envelopes, or plastic pouches.
