Abstract

The present invention relates to both a textile article and a method of making the textile article. The textile article is a two-sided Jacquard woven textile with a graphic impression on at least one side thereof. In one embodiment, the front side of the textile has a dark color border and a light color area within said border. The light color area is the area receiving the graphic impression. It is sometimes advantageous to reverse the textile. Therefore, in another embodiment the front side has a light color border with a dark central area, and the dark central area will receive the graphic impression. The graphic impression may be applied by screen printing, image dyeing, digital imaging, or heat transfer (heat applied graphics). The method of making the article comprises the steps of providing a two-sided Jacquard woven textile and then transferring the impression onto the textile, preferably in the light color central area, but the reverse side of the textile could be employed and the impression could be on the dark central area. The textile may be a golf or sports towel, hand, bath, or wash towel, beach towel, baby bib, a bath or beach robe, a bath mat, an apron, hot-plate, mittens, and the like.

. The article of claim 1 , wherein said textile has selvage edge portions and hem edge portions surrounding said woven portion.

. The article of claim 2 , wherein said textile has a border within said selvage, and a central area, said border surrounds at least a substantial portion of said central area.

. The article of claim 3 , wherein said border has a first color, and a central area within said border, said central area having a second color.

. The article of claim 4 , wherein said first color is a dark color border and said second color is a light color.

. The article of claim 3 , wherein said border is selected from the class of rectangular shape, circular shape, oval shape, square shape, and irregular shape.

. The article of claim 3 , wherein said border is solid or a pattern.

. The article of claim 7 , wherein said pattern is selected from the class consisting of stripes, dots, names, silhouettes of sport players, animal shapes, corporate logos, or university mascots.

. The article of claim 1 , wherein said textile has fiber loops and said loops are sheared and bloomed.

. The article of claim 3 , wherein said area is selected from the class of rectangular shape, circular shape, oval shape, square shape, and irregular shape.

. The article of claim 3 , wherein said impression is in said central area.

. The article of claim 3 , wherein said textile has on its other side a light color border and a dark color central area within said border.

. The article of claim 3 , wherein said graphic impression is in said central area and is screened printed, imaged dyed, digital imaged, or heat transferred.

. The article of claim 1 , wherein said textile is selected from the class of towels, robes, bath mats, aprons, baby bibs and hot-plate mittens.

. The article of claim 14 , wherein said towels are selected from the class of a bath towel, beach towel, kitchen towel, or a sport towel.

. The method of making a printed textile article comprising: providing a two-sided Jacquard woven fibers textile, and transferring a graphic impression on said textile.

. The method of claim 16 , wherein said transferring is by screen printing, image dyeing, digital imaging, or heat transferring.

. The method of claim 16 , wherein said textile has a border and a central area within said border, said transferring occurring on said central area.

. The method of claim 18 , wherein said textile has a dark color border and a light color central area.

. The method of claim 18 , further including the steps of shearing and blooming said textile fibers.
