Abstract

A polishing tool can produce a flat and mirror polish surface in an object by pressing and sliding against the surface of the object. The polishing tool has a base section, and a plurality of segments of grinding plate pieces fixed on the base section. The grinding plate pieces are separated by given distance. The grinding plate pieces are preferably bounded to a bounding surface of a base section using an adhesive agent.

What is claimed is:  
     
         1 . A polishing tool for producing a flat and mirror polished surface on an object by pressing and sliding against a surface thereof, comprising: 
 a base section; and    a plurality of segments of grinding plate pieces that are separated by a given distance, said plurality of segments being fixed on said base section.    
     
     
         2 . A polishing tool according to    claim 1   , wherein said polishing tool is made by: 
 preparing a base section having a flat bonding surface; and    bonding segmented grinding plate pieces on said flat bonding surface of said base section using an adhesive agent, and said segmented pieces being separated by a given distance.    
     
     
         3 . A polishing tool according to    claim 1   , wherein said grinding plate is fixed to a base section using an adhesive agent, and a plurality of grooves are fabricated, to a depth to reach a bonding layer, so as to divide said grinding plate into a plurality of segmented grinding plate pieces that are separated by a given distance.  
     
     
         4 . A polishing tool according to    claim 1   , said polishing tool is further made by: 
 arranging a plurality of segmented grinding plate pieces separated at a given distance on a flat plate;    attaching a strip or a bonding agent to act as a thermo-melting adhesive to a bonding surface of said base section; and    heating said strip or said bonding agent and pressing against the plurality of segmented grinding plate pieces so as to produce a grinding plate comprised by grinding plate pieces.    
     
     
         5 . A polishing apparatus for producing a flat and mirror polished surface on a polishing object by pressing and sliding a polishing surface of said polishing object on an abrasive surface, comprising: 
 a grinding plate having an abrasive surface, said grinding plate having a plurality of segments of grinding plate pieces that are separated by a given distance.    
     
     
         6 . A polishing apparatus according to    claim 5   , further comprising: 
 a holding section for holding the polishing object; and    a sliding device for producing a relative sliding motion while pressing the polishing surface against said abrasive surface of the grinding plate by means of said base section and said holding section.    
     
     
         7 . A polishing apparatus according to    claim 5   , wherein said polishing tool is made by: 
 preparing a base section having a flat bonding surface; and    bonding segmented grinding plate pieces on said flat bonding surface of said base section using an adhesive agent, and said segmented pieces being separated by a given distance.    
     
     
         8 . A polishing apparatus according to    claim 5   , wherein said grinding plate is fixed to a base section using an adhesive agent, and a plurality of grooves are fabricated, to a depth to reach a bonding layer, so as to divide said grinding plate into a plurality of segmented grinding plate pieces that are separated by a given distance.  
     
     
         9 . A polishing apparatus according to    claim 1   , said polishing tool is further made by: 
 arranging a plurality of segmented grinding plate pieces separated at a given distance on a flat plate;    attaching a strip or a bonding agent to act as a thermo-melting adhesive to a bonding surface of said base section; and    heating said strip or said bonding agent and pressing against the plurality of segmented grinding plate pieces so as to produce a grinding plate comprised by grinding plate pieces.    
     
     
         10 . A polishing tool for polishing a surface of a workpiece by a relative motion between said workpiece and a surface of said polishing tool, comprising: 
 a base;    a plurality of segments of grinding plate pieces which are fixed on said base, wherein said plurality of segments of grinding plate pieces are fixed by pressing said segments between said base and a flat plate so that a top surfaces of said grinding plate pieces are aligned coplanarly.    
     
     
         11 . A polishing tool according to    claim 10   , wherein adhesive is provided between said segments of grinding plate pieces and said base.  
     
     
         12 . A polishing tool according to    claim 10   , wherein said adhesive comprises a resin adhesive.  
     
     
         13 . A polishing tool according to    claim 10   , wherein said segments pieces are separated a given distance.  
     
     
         14 . A polishing tool according to    claim 10   , wherein said base comprises metal.  
     
     
         15 . A method of producing a polishing tool for polishing a surface of a workpiece by a relative motion between said workpiece and a surface of said polishing tool, said polishing tool comprising a base and plurality of segments of grinding plate pieces fixed on said base, said method comprising: 
 placing a plurality of segments of grinding plate pieces on a flat plate;    providing adhesive onto said base;    applying a pressing force on a base so as to press said grinding plate pieces against said flat plate and fix said grinding plate pieces to said base.    
     
     
         16 . A method of producing a polishing tool according to    claim 15   , wherein adhesive is provided between said segments of grinding plate pieces and said base.  
     
     
         17 . A polishing tool according to    claim 15   , wherein said adhesive comprises a resin adhesive.  
     
     
         18 . A polishing tool according to    claim 15   , wherein said segments pieces are separated by a given distance.  
     
     
         19 . A polishing tool according to    claim 15   , wherein said base comprises metal.
