Vehicle lift rack mounted tool organizer

Abstract

A vehicle lift rack is provided as a mounted tool organizer for use with a conventional vehicle lift rack of a type having rack arms. A pair of support hooks, for grasping the rack arm in a manner that allows a containment volume to be supported through gravity impingement, without the necessity for permanent fasteners. The main containment volume is formed in a boxlike fashion and includes a hinged, lockable lid.

What is claimed is:  
     
         1 . A vehicle lift rack mounted tool organizer for use with a conventional vehicle lift rack of a type having rack arms, said organizer comprising: 
 a storage volume, said storage volume formed by a bottom connected to a plurality of vertical sidewalls and having an articulated lid,    support means connected to said storage volume for grasping said rack arm in a manner that allows the organizer to be supported through gravity impingement extending cantilever outward from the support means in a manner that hangs below the horizontal level of the rack arm;    means for supporting pneumatic driving tools;    means for supporting tools formed by a lateral support plate;    means for supporting cups; and    means for supporting rags.    
     
     
         2 . The vehicle lift rack mounted tool organizer of    claim 1   , further comprising a slidably retained storage drawer provided along the lower surface of the organizer, thereby allowing for additional storage.  
     
     
         3 . A vehicle lift rack mounted tool organizer comprising: 
 support means for mounting to the support arms of an otherwise conventional vehicle lift rack; and    a main containment volume formed in a boxlike fashion extending cantilever outward from said support means in a manner that hangs below the horizontal level of said rack arm;    a hinged, lockable lid affixed to and covering said main containment volume.

The vehicle lift rack mounted tool organizer of    claim 3   , wherein said support means comprises a pair of support hooks, for grasping the rack arm in a manner that allows the containment volume to be supported through gravity impingement, without the necessity for permanent fasteners.  
     
     
         5 . The vehicle lift rack mounted tool organizer of    claim 4   , wherein said hooks are laterally adjustable in size, from between 3 inches to 5½inches in order to accommodate various standard makes of lift racks currently commercially available.  
     
     
         6 . The vehicle lift rack mounted tool organizer of    claim 4   , further comprising a lateral support plate extending horizontally from said containment volume.  
     
     
         7 . The vehicle lift rack mounted tool organizer of    claim 6   , wherein said lateral support plate further include means for supporting pneumatic driving tools.  
     
     
         8 . The vehicle lift rack mounted tool organizer of    claim 6   , wherein said lateral support plate further include means for supporting tools comprising various sized orifices formed by said lateral support plate.  
     
     
         9 . The vehicle lift rack mounted tool organizer of    claim 6   , wherein said lateral support plate further include means for supporting a beverage receptacle.  
     
     
         10 . The vehicle lift rack mounted tool organizer of    claim 4   , further comprising a slidably retained storage drawer provided along a lower surface of said containment volume, thereby allowing for additional storage.
