Abstract

A second base station (BS 2 ) comprises one or more processors and memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause BS 2 to: transmit, to a wireless device (WD), while BS 2 has a WD context of the WD, a radio resource control release message indicating to suspend one or more radio bearers (RBs) associated with the WD context; transmit, to the WD, a bearer configuration indicating that a first RB of the one or more RBs is configured for a small data transmission procedure; receive, from a first base station (BS 1 ), a first message requesting to retrieve the WD context of the WD; send, to BS 1 , a second message indicating: not to relocate the WD context of the WD; the first RB configured for the SDT procedure; and a data forwarding address for uplink data associated with the first RB.

Claims

         1 . A second base station comprising:
 one or more processors; and memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the second base station to: transmit, to a wireless device, while the second base station has a wireless device context of the wireless device, a radio resource control release message indicating to suspend one or more radio bearers associated with the wireless device context; transmit, to the wireless device, a bearer configuration indicating that a first radio bearer of the one or more radio bearers is configured for a small data transmission (SDT) procedure; receive, from a first base station, a first message requesting to retrieve the wireless device context of the wireless device; send, to the first base station, a second message indicating:
 not to relocate the wireless device context of the wireless device;
 the first radio bearer configured for the SDT procedure; and
 a data forwarding address for uplink data associated with the first radio bearer.

         2 . The second base station of claim 1 , wherein the instructions further cause the second base station to receive from the first base station, the uplink data.

         3 . The second base station of claim 1 , wherein the second message comprises one or more quality of service parameters.

         4 . The second base station of claim 1 , wherein the second message comprises an indication of a correspondence between the first radio bearer and one or more quality of service flows.

         5 . The second base station of claim 1 , wherein the second message comprises an indication of a correspondence between the first radio bearer and one or more logical channels.

         6 . The second base station of claim 1 , wherein the second message comprises SDT assistance information indicating the SDT procedure.

         7 . The second base station of claim 1 , wherein the data forwarding address comprises at least one of: a transport layer address; or a general packet radio service tunneling protocol tunnel endpoint identifier (GTP-TEID).

         8 . A first base station comprising:
 one or more processors; and memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the first base station to: receive, from a wireless device:
 uplink data associated with a first radio bearer configured for a small data transmission (SDT) procedure; and
 a radio resource control resume request message;
   send, to a second base station, a first message requesting to retrieve a wireless device context of the wireless device; receive, from the second base station, a second message indicating:
 not to relocate the wireless device context of the wireless device;
 the first radio bearer configured for the SDT procedure; and
 a data forwarding address for uplink data associated with the first radio bearer.

         9 . The first base station of claim 8 , wherein the instructions further cause the first base station to send, to the second base station, the uplink data.

         10 . The first base station of claim 8 , wherein the second message comprises one or more quality of service parameters.

         11 . The first base station of claim 8 , wherein the second message comprises an indication of a correspondence between the first radio bearer and one or more quality of service flows.

         12 . The first base station of claim 8 , wherein the second message comprises an indication of a correspondence between the first radio bearer and one or more logical channels.

         13 . The first base station of claim 8 , wherein the second message comprises SDT assistance information indicating the SDT procedure.

         14 . The first base station of claim 8 , wherein the data forwarding address comprises at least one of: a transport layer address; or a general packet radio service tunneling protocol tunnel endpoint identifier (GTP-TEID).

         15 . A wireless device comprising:
 one or more processors; and memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the wireless device to: receive, from a second base station having a wireless device context of the wireless device, a radio resource control release message:
 indicating to suspend one or more radio bearers associated with the wireless device context; and
 transitioning the wireless device to a radio resource control (RRC) inactive state;
   receive, in the RRC inactive state, a bearer configuration indicating that a first radio bearer of the one or more radio bearers is configured for a small data transmission (SDT) procedure; transmit, to a first base station, a radio resource control (RRC) resume request message; transmit, in the RRC inactive state to the second base station via the first base station using a data forwarding address, uplink data of the first radio bearer, wherein the data forwarding address is comprised in a second message indicating:
 not to relocate the wireless device context of the wireless device; and
 the first radio bearer configured for the SDT procedure.

         16 . The wireless device of claim 15 , wherein the instructions further cause the wireless device to, based on receiving the radio resource control release message, store current configuration parameters of the wireless device and suspend configuration parameters of the wireless device.

         17 . The wireless device of claim 15 , wherein the instructions further cause the wireless device to receive, in the RRC inactive state from the second base station via the first base station, downlink data.

         18 . The wireless device of claim 15 , wherein the wireless device context is stored by the second base station.
