Interrupt processing using virtual machines
Abstract
A data processing device that can monitor properly the state of the interrupt processing of a virtual machine is provided. The data processing device according to an aspect of the present disclosure includes an arithmetic unit that executes multiple virtual machines, respectively, and an interrupt controller that instructs execution of the interrupt processing to the arithmetic unit with the virtual machine information to specify at least one of the multiple virtual machines. The interrupt controller includes a counter to count the number of interrupts for each virtual machine based on the virtual machine information.

1. A data processing device comprising:
a central processing unit (CPU) that executes i) each of a plurality of virtual machines and ii) a virtual machine manager that manages the plurality of virtual machines;
an interrupt information storage that stores data for channels, and outputs an interrupt request with data corresponding to one of the channels when a signal is received from the one of the channels;
an interrupt controller that receives, from the interrupt information storage, the interrupt request with the data that specifies at least one of the virtual machines and the virtual machine manager; and
a counter that counts, based on the data, i) the number of the interrupt request executed in each virtual machine and ii) the number of the interrupt request executed in the virtual machine manager,
wherein the interrupt request to be counted by the counter is an interrupt request output with the data set in count target setting information.
2. The data processing device according to claim 1 , wherein the interrupt request to be counted by the counter is an interrupt request accepted by the CPU.
3. The data processing device according to claim 1 , wherein the virtual machine manager detects that the counted number of interrupt requests reaches a threshold value.
4. The data processing device according to claim 1 , wherein each of the data and the count target setting information comprises a plurality of bits.
5. The data processing device according to claim 1 ,
wherein the counter counts the number of interrupt request in parallel with one of the virtual machines executed on the CPU.
6. The data processing device according to claim 5 ,
