Abstract

A method for distributing media content and tracking viewer impressions in an out-of-home context includes: a mobile computing device receiving an identifier of a first media content item; causing display of the first media content item to a first viewer; sensing image data of the first viewer during display of the first media content item; determining a location of the mobile computing device during display of the first media content item to the first viewer; sending the image data of the first viewer, and an impression-reporting message including: the identifier of the first media content item and the location of the mobile computing device during display of the first media content item to the first viewer.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

       1. A method comprising:
 receiving, by a mobile computing device, from a first processing server, a reference to an online video platform at which a selected media content of one or more media content items is stored, a selected geographic area, a selected time frame, and one or more selected impression score rules;
 receiving, by input device of the mobile computing device, input from a user of the mobile computing device, said input specifying a maximum distance the user is willing to travel from a current location of the mobile computing device;
 determining, by the mobile computing device, a geographic area based on the current location of the mobile computing device and the maximum distance;
 determining, by the mobile computing device, whether there is overlap between (1) the selected geographic area received from the processing server and the determined geographic area and (2) the selected time frame received from the processing server and a current time;
 in response to a positive determination, displaying, on a remote display device that is in communication with the mobile computing device, the selected media content item to a first viewer;
 capturing, by an image detector of the mobile computing device, image data of the first viewer during the display of the selected media content item to the first viewer, wherein said image data includes multiple images of the first viewer taken over a period of time;
 generating, by the mobile computing device, facial impression data based on an analysis of the image data of the first viewer;
 transmitting, by the mobile computing device, the facial impression data to the processing server; and
 producing, by the processing server, an impression score on a basis of at least (1) the facial impression data generated by the mobile computing device, and (ii) the one or more impression score rules associated with the selected media content item displayed to the first viewer.

       2. A method of claim 1 , wherein the remote display device comprises: any one of a projector, television, monitor, large format display, mobile display, wall projections, electronic billboard, and any display capable of displaying video.

       3. A method of claim 1 , wherein the remote display device is further configured to produce audio.

       4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the impression score is further based on the geographic location of the mobile computing device during display of the selected media content item to the first viewer being within a preset distance of a geographic location of an entity associated with the first media content item.

       5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the impression score is based on image data captured on an individual basis.

       6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the impression score is based on image data captured over a set time period.

       7. A system comprising:
 a mobile computing device including a processor, a memory, an image detector, and a geographic location sensor;
 an operator device including at least a processor and a memory;
 a processing server; and
 a remote display device that is in communication with the mobile computing device;
 wherein the mobile computing device is configured to:
 receive, from the processing server, a reference to an online video platform at which a selected media content of one or more media content items is stored, a selected geographic area, a selected time frame, and one or more selected impression score rules,
 receive input from a user of the mobile computing device, said input specifying a maximum distance the user is willing to travel from a current location of the mobile computing device,
 determine a geographic area based on the current location of the mobile computing device and the maximum distance, and
 determine whether there is overlap between (1) the selected geographic area received from the processing server and the determined geographic area and (2) the selected time frame received from the processing server and a current time,
 wherein the remote display device, in response to a positive determination by the mobile computing device, is configured to display, to a first viewer, the media content item,
 wherein the mobile computing device is further configured to:
 capture, via the image detector, image data of the first viewer during the display of the selected media content item to the first viewer, said image data including multiple images of the first viewer taken over a period of time,
 generate facial impression data based on an analysis of the image data of the first viewer, and
 transmit, to the processing server, the facial impression data, and wherein the processing server is configured to produce an impression score on a basis of at least (i) the facial impression data generated by the mobile computing device, and (ii) the one or more impression score rules associated with the selected media content item displayed to the first view.

       8. The system of claim 7 , wherein the remote display device comprises: any one of a projector, television, monitor, large format display, mobile display, wall projections, electronic billboard, and any display capable of displaying video.

       9. The system of claim 7 , wherein the remote display device is further configured to produce audio.

       10. The system of claim 7 , wherein the impression score is further based on the geographic location of the mobile computing device during display of the first media content item to the first viewer being within a preset distance of a geographic location of an entity associated with the first media content item.

       11. The system of claim 7 , wherein the impression score is further based on at least a determination of whether the plurality of facial measurements of the first viewer matches any other set of facial measurements.

       12. The system of claim 7 , wherein the impression score is determined based on image data captured on an individual basis.

       13. The system of claim 7 , wherein the impression score is determined based on image data captured over a set time period.

       14. A method of claim 1 , wherein the reference includes a Uniform Resource Locator (URL) and wherein the method further comprises: obtaining, by the mobile computing device, the selected media content from the online video platform using the URL.

       15. The method of claim 1 further comprising: providing audio to the first viewer.

       16. The system of claim 7 , wherein the reference includes a Uniform Resource Locator (URL), and the mobile computing device is further configured to obtain the selected media content from the online video platform using the URL.

       17. The system of claim 7 , wherein audio is provided to the first viewer.
