Claims

Abstract

A method and apparatus for receiving a mobile message are provided. The apparatus includes a Mobile Messaging (MM) client configured to receive the mobile message based on an Internet Protocol (IP) push manner; a Short Messaging Service (SMS) client configured to receive the mobile message based on SMS push manner; and a module configured to select one of the IP push manner and the SMS manner as a manner for receiving the mobile message.

What is claimed is: 
     
       1. An apparatus for receiving a mobile message, the apparatus comprising:
 a processor; 
 a communication module configured to receive the mobile message based on an Internet Protocol (IP) push manner or an SMS push manner; 
 wherein the processor is configured to:
 set the SMS push manner as a manner for receiving the mobile message which is to be received through the IP push manner from an external apparatus if the apparatus is not able to be connected to wireless Internet communication, and 
 receive the mobile message through the SMS push manner from the external apparatus without receiving the mobile message through the IP push manner, 
 
 wherein the communication module receives an arrival notification indicating that the mobile message has arrived from a push server if the SMS push manner is selected as the manner for receiving the mobile message. 
 
     
     
       2. The apparatus as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein, when the communication module receives the mobile message, the processor converts the mobile message into an SMS type. 
     
     
       3. The apparatus as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein, when the IP push manner is selected as the manner for receiving the mobile message, the communication module receives the arrival notification indicating the mobile message has arrived. 
     
     
       4. A method of receiving a mobile message by an apparatus, the method comprising:
 setting, by a processor, a Short Message Service (SMS) push manner as a manner for receiving the mobile message which is to be received through an Internet Protocol (IP) push manner from an external apparatus if the apparatus is not able to be connected to wireless Internet communication; and 
 receiving the mobile message through the SMS push manner from the external device without receiving the mobile message through the IP push manner, 
 wherein an arrival notification indicating that the mobile message has arrived is received from a push server if the SMS push manner is selected as the manner for receiving the mobile message. 
 
     
     
       5. The method as claimed in  claim 4 , further comprising:
 receiving the mobile message according to the SMS push manner when the SMS push manner is selected as the manner for receiving the mobile message; and 
 converting the mobile message into an SMS type. 
 
     
     
       6. The method as claimed in  claim 4 , further comprising:
 receiving the mobile message according to the IP push manner when the IP push manner is selected as the manner for receiving the mobile message. 
 
     
     
       7. The method as claimed in  claim 4 , wherein selecting one of the IP push manner and the SMS push manner as the manner for receiving the mobile message comprises selecting the manner for receiving the mobile message based on a user input. 
     
     
       8. An apparatus for receiving a mobile message according to an Internet Protocol (IP) push manner or a Short Message Service (SMS) push manner, the apparatus comprising:
 a communication module configured to receive the mobile message based on an Internet Protocol (IP) push manner or an SMS push manner; 
 a processor configured to; 
 set the SMS push manner as a manner for receiving the mobile message which is to be received from an external apparatus if the apparatus is not able to be connected to wireless Internet communication; and
 receive the mobile message through the SMS push manner from the external apparatus without receiving the mobile message through the IP push manner, 
 wherein the communication module receives an arrival notification indicating that the mobile message has arrived from a push server if the SMS push manner is selected as the manner for receiving the mobile message. 
 
 
     
     
       9. The apparatus of  claim 8 , further comprising:
 a screen for displaying a user interface for selecting the manner for receiving the mobile message.
