Abstract

FGR (feline Gardner-Rasheed sarcoma viral oncogene homolog) fusions are described herein. Further provided are methods of diagnosing and treating diseases or disorders associated with FGR fusions, such as conditions mediated by FGR aberrant activity, or overexpression.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
We claim:

       1. A method of detecting in a patient a WASF2:FGR gene fusion, said method comprising:
 a) contacting a biological sample from the patient with an oligonucleotide that hybridizes to or amplifies the WASF2:FGR gene fusion of SEQ ID NO:1 or a portion thereof comprising a fusion junction; and
 b) detecting binding between the WASF2:FGR gene fusion and the oligonucleotide or amplification of the WASF2:FGR gene fusion.

       2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the oligonucleotide hybridizes under stringent conditions to (a) a fragment of SEQ ID NO:1 comprising nucleotides 178-187 of SEQ ID NO:1, or (b) a complementary oligonucleotide of (a).

       3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the patient is suffering from or susceptible to a cancer.

       4. The method of claim 3 , wherein the cancer is lung squamous carcinoma, ovarian serous cystadenocarcinoma, cutaneous melanoma, uterine carcinosarcoma, or esophageal carcinoma.

       5. The method of claim 4 , wherein the cancer is lung squamous carcinoma.

       6. The method of claim 4 , wherein the cancer is ovarian serous cystadenocarcinoma.

       7. The method of claim 4 , wherein the cancer is cutaneous melanoma.

       8. The method of claim 4 , wherein the cancer is uterine carcinosarcoma.

       9. The method of claim 4 , wherein the cancer is esophageal carcinoma.
