Abstract

In a case where a removable recording medium on which complete erasure has not been performed is accidentally removed from an information processing apparatus, information may be at risk of leaking out from the removed recording medium. In a case where physical removal of the recording medium from the information processing apparatus is detected, the information processing apparatus determines whether the removed recording medium is a recording medium on which complete erasure processing of data recorded thereon has been performed. Then, in a case where it is determined that the complete erasure processing of the data has not been performed, a user is notified of a prompt for the complete erasure processing.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

       1. An information processing apparatus into and from which a recording medium can be inserted and removed, the information processing apparatus comprising:
 a controller including a memory storing instructions and a processor which executes the instructions, the controller being configured to determine whether erasure processing of data in the recording medium has been performed;
a recovery controller for recovering the controller from a sleep state in a case where the recording medium is removed; and
 a display,
wherein in a case where the recovered controller determines that data in the removed recording medium is not erasure processed, the recovered controller recovers the display from a sleep state, and
the recovered display displays a notification to a user.

       2. The information processing apparatus according to claim 1 ,
wherein in a case where the recovered controller determines that in the removed recording medium is erasure processed, the recovered controller is caused to enter the sleep state.

       3. The information processing apparatus according to claim 1 ,
further comprising a storage unit configured to store information indicating that erasure processing of the data recorded on the recording medium has not been performed,
wherein in a case where the recording medium is inserted into the information processing apparatus, and the erasure processing of the data is performed on the recording medium, the information stored in the storage unit is overwritten with information indicating that erasure processing of the data recorded on the recording medium has been performed, and
wherein the recovered controller determines whether the erasure processing of the data in the recording medium has been performed based on the information stored in the storage unit.

       4. The information processing apparatus according to claim 3 , wherein in a case where the recovered controller determines that the information stored in the storage unit is information indicating that the erasure processing of the data has been performed, the information stored in the storage unit is deleted.

       5. The information processing apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the recovered display notifies a message indicating that the erasure processing of the data recorded on the recording medium has not been performed or a message prompting for erasure of the data recorded on the recording medium.

       6. A control method for an information processing apparatus into and from which a recording medium can be inserted and removed, the information processing unit having a controller recoverable from a sleep state and a display recoverable from a sleep state, the control method comprising at least the steps of:
determining, using the controller, whether erasure processing of data in the recording medium has been performed; and
recovering the controller from a sleep state in a case where the recording medium is removed,
wherein in a case where the recovered controller determines that data in the removed recording medium is not erasure processed, further comprising the steps of:
recovering the display from a sleep state by using the recovered controller, and
displaying a notification to a user by using the recovered display.

       7. The control method according to claim 6 , wherein in a case where the determining step determines that data in the removed recording medium is erasure processed, further comprising the step of causing the recovered controller to enter the sleep state.

       8. The control method according to claim 6 ,
further comprising the step of storing information indicating that erasure processing of the data recorded on the recording medium has not been performed,
wherein in a case where the recording medium is inserted into the information processing apparatus, and the erasure processing of the data is performed on the recording medium, the information stored in the step of storing is overwritten with information indicating that erasure processing of the data recorded on the recording medium has been performed, and
wherein the determining step determines whether the erasure processing of the data in the recording medium has been performed based on the information stored in the storing step.

       9. The control method according to claim 8 , wherein in a case where the determining step determines that the information stored in the storing step is information indicating that the erasure processing of the data has been performed, the information stored in the storing step is deleted.

       10. The control method according to claim 6 , wherein in the step of displaying, a message indicating that the erasure processing of the data recorded on the recording medium has not been performed or a message prompting for erasure of the data recorded on the recording medium is notified.

       11. A non-transitory computer readable storage medium storing a program for causing a computer to function as an information processing apparatus into and from which a recording medium can be inserted and removed, the information processing unit having a controller recoverable from a sleep state and a display recoverable from a sleep state, the program causing the computer to perform at least the steps of:
determining, using the controller, whether erasure processing of data in the recording medium has been performed; and
recovering the controller from a sleep state in a case where the recording medium is removed,
wherein in a case where the recovered controller determines that data in the removed recording medium is not erasure processed, the program further causing the computer to perform at least the steps of:
recovering the display from a sleep state by using the recovered controller, and
displaying a notification to a user by using the recovered display.
