Facilitating initiation of customer returns
Abstract
In certain embodiments, a system includes a processing system and tangible computer-readable media accessible by the processing system. The tangible computer-readable media may store software and a plurality of purchase order identifications. Each purchase order identification indicates a respective one of a plurality of purchase orders, and each purchase order identification is globally unique with respect to each other. The software when executed by the processing system is configured to perform operations. The operations include accessing a request comprising a first purchase order identification of the plurality of purchase order identifications. The request had been generated at a client device that had decoded the one of the plurality of purchase order identifications from an optical scan of a code provided with packaging of one or more products of the respective purchase order indicated by the first purchase order identification. The operations further include generating data for receipt by the client device. The data may comprise information that facilitates returning at least one of the one or more products.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A system comprising:
at least one processor; and memory comprising instructions and comprising a plurality of purchase order identifications and associated purchase orders, the instructions, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to:
receive scanned information that was generated by decoding of an optical scan of a code provided with packaging of one or more products;
determine a purchase order identification associated with the scanned information;
generate data based in part on accessing a purchase order from the memory using the purchase order identification, the data comprising selection instructions and comprising product identification of the one or more products;
enable, using the selection instructions, an automatic return or an at least one selection input of the product identification, the automatic return comprising initiation of one or more of a refund, a credit, or a replacement for at least one product associated with the product identification; and
generate information for a client device, the information to be used to return the at least one product of the one or more products.
2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the selection instructions further comprises one or more of:
first instructions for a prompt to enable the at least one selection input of the product identification; second instructions for a prompt to enable input of one or more reasons for returning the at least one product; or third instructions for an acknowledgement that a procedure for returning the at least one product has been initiated.
3 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the memory comprising the instructions that, when executed by the processor, further cause the at least one processor to:
generate additional data to indicate a monetary value to be applied to an account associated with the purchase order identification, the monetary value based at least in part on a purchase price of the at least one product.
4 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the memory comprising the instructions that, when executed by the processor, further cause the at least one processor to:
receive an indication that the at least one product has returned to a designated location; and cause the refund or the credit associated with a monetary value to be applied to an account associated with the purchase order identification.
5 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the code comprises one or more of a quick resource code (QR code) or a barcode.
6 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the memory comprising the instructions that, when executed by the processor, further cause the at least one processor to:
encode machine-readable data into a plurality of image components, the encoded machine-readable data when decoded comprising the purchase order identification; and generate print data, which when printed, provides the code to be affixed to the packaging of the at least one product.
7 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the information for returning the at least one product comprises indication of a mail drop location determined based at least in part on an estimated location of a device requesting the return of the at least one product.
8 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the memory comprising the instructions that, when executed by the processor, further cause the at least one processor to:
receive a request to purchase the at least one product; and generate the code to be provided with the packaging of the at least one product.
9 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the memory comprising the instructions that, when executed by the processor, further cause the at least one processor to:
receive a return request; and generate a query to be included in the data, the query to provide options for a type of return associated with the refund, the credit, or the replacement to be processed for the return request.
10 . A non-transitory computer-readable media comprising a plurality of purchase order identifications and associated purchase orders and comprising instructions that, when executed by a processor of a computing system, causes the computing system to:
determine a purchase order identification associated with scanned information that was generated by decoding of an optical scan of a code provided with packaging of one or more products; generate data based in part on accessing the plurality of purchase order identifications and associated purchase orders for a purchase order associated with the purchase order identification; enable, using selection instructions in the data, an automatic return or an at least one selection input of a product identification from the data, the automatic return comprising initiation of one or more of a refund, a credit, or a replacement for at least one product associated with the product identification; and generate information for a client device, the information to be used to return the at least one product of the one or more products.
11 . The non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 10 , wherein the selection instructions further comprises one or more of:
first instructions for a prompt to enable the at least one selection input of the product identification; second instructions for a prompt to enable input of one or more reasons for returning the at least one product; or third instructions for an acknowledgement that a procedure for returning the at least one product has been initiated.
12 . The non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 10 , wherein the instructions that, when executed by the processor of the computing system, causes the computing system to:
generate additional data to indicate a monetary value to be applied to an account associated with the purchase order identification, the monetary value based at least in part on a purchase price of the at least one product.
13 . The non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 10 , wherein the instructions that, when executed by the processor of the computing system, causes the computing system to:
receive an indication that the at least one product has returned to a designated location; and cause the refund or the credit associated with a monetary value to be applied to an account associated with the purchase order identification.
14 . The non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 10 , wherein the code comprises one or more of a quick resource code (QR code) or a barcode.
15 . The non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 10 , wherein the instructions that, when executed by the processor of the computing system, causes the computing system to:
receive a request to purchase the at least one product; and generate the code to be provided with the packaging of the at least one product.
16 . The non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 10 , wherein the instructions that, when executed by the processor of the computing system, causes the computing system to:
receive a return request; and generate a query to be included in the data, the query to provide options for a type of return associated with the refund, the credit, or the replacement to be processed for the return request.
17 . A computer-implemented method comprising:
enabling non-transitory computer-readable media to store a plurality of purchase order identifications and associated purchase orders; determining a purchase order identification associated with scanned information that was generated by decoding of an optical scan of a code provided with packaging of one or more products; generating data based in part on accessing the non-transitory computer-readable media for a purchase order associated with the purchase order identification; enabling, using selection instructions in the data, an automatic return or an at least one selection input of a product identification from the data, the automatic return comprising initiation of one or more of a refund, a credit, or a replacement for at least one product associated with the product identification; and generating information for a client device, the information to be used to return the at least one product of the one or more products.
