Abstract

The present invention provides a data processing method that includes receiving a broadcasting signal in which mobile service data are multiplexed with main service data, extracting transmission-parameter-channel signaling information and fast-information-channel (FIC) signaling information from a data group within the received mobile service data, parsing first program table information describing virtual channel information of an ensemble and a service provided by the ensemble using the FIC signaling information, the ensemble corresponding to a virtual channel group of the received mobile service data, obtaining information from the first program table information, the information representing that second program table information including a descriptor describing event information of the mobile service data is received, parsing the second program table information, storing the event information and displaying service guide information including the event information.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A method of processing broadcast service data in a broadcast transmitter, the method comprising:
 encoding service acquisition data carrying information to enable service acquisition;   FEC (Forward Error Correction) encoding broadcast service data;   interleaving the FEC encoded broadcast service data;   encoding transmission parameters for transmission of the broadcast service data;   generating data frames including the encoded service acquisition data, the interleaved broadcast service data and the encoded transmission parameters; and   transmitting broadcast signal including the data frames,   wherein the broadcast signal further include service information data describing a broadcast service,   wherein the service acquisition data further includes location information specifying a location where the service information data is carried, and   wherein the service information data includes address information specifying an Internet Protocol (IP) address of a transmission session that delivers a component of the broadcast service.   
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the service acquisition data includes version information specifying a version of a protocol for the service information data, 
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 2 , wherein the service information data further includes sampling rate information specifying a sampling rate of an audio component for the broadcast service. 
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 2 , wherein the service acquisition data further includes major channel number information specifying a major channel number of the broadcast service and minor channel number information specifying a minor channel number of the broadcast service. 
     
     
         5 . A receiver for processing broadcast service data, the receiver comprising:
 a receiving interface that receives broadcast signal including data frames;   a decoder that parses broadcast service data and transmission parameters from the data frames;   a signaling decoder that decodes the transmission parameters which carry information for transmission of the broadcast service data;   a deinterleaver that deinterleaves the broadcast service data;   a FEC (Forward Error Correction) decoder that FEC decodes the deinterleaved broadcast service data; and   a processor that parses service acquisition data carrying information to enable service acquisition from the FEC decoded broadcast service data,   wherein the broadcast signal further include service information data describing a broadcast service,   wherein the service acquisition data further includes location information specifying a location where the service information data is carried, and   wherein the service information data includes address information specifying an Internet Protocol (IP) address of a transmission session that delivers a component of the broadcast service.   
     
     
         6 . The receiver of  claim 5 , wherein the service acquisition data includes version information specifying a version of a protocol for the service information data, 
     
     
         7 . The receiver of  claim 6 , wherein the service information data further includes sampling rate information specifying a sampling rate of an audio component for the broadcast service. 
     
     
         8 . The receiver of  claim 6 , wherein the service acquisition data further includes major channel number information specifying a major channel number of the broadcast service and minor channel number information specifying a minor channel number of the broadcast service.
