Abstract
Systems and methods for sponsoring an area of land are disclosed. Certain systems and methods may cause the display of areas of land that are available for sponsorship, receiving input identifying an area of land to sponsor, processing sponsorship of the identified area, and generating an interface for displaying the sponsored area.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A system for enabling a user to support a cause undertaken by an entity, the system comprising one or more processors that are operable to:
receive initial information indicating that a user has purchased one or more goods or services; and based on the initial information, generate additional information specifying that a cause is supported by the user or another entity.
2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the initial information includes a registration code associated with the one or more goods or services.
3 . The system of claim 2 , wherein the registration code is received from a computing device operated by the user.
4 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the additional information specifies that a first area of land is preserved by the user.
5 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the initial information is received from a point-of-sale device.
6 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more processors are further operable to:
modify a first status indicator, which is associated with a first area of land, from an unsponsored status to a sponsored status based on the additional information.
7 . The system of claim 6 , wherein the one or more processors are further operable to:
receive, from a storage device, the first status indicator reflecting that the first area of land is sponsored by the user; receive, from the storage device, a second status indicator reflecting that a second area of land is sponsored by another user; receive, from the storage device, a third status indicator reflecting that a third area of land is not sponsored by any user; and send, to a remote computing device, information specifying a map that shows the first, second and third areas of land, and that further shows that the first area of land is sponsored by the user, the second area of land is sponsored by another user, and the third area of land is not sponsored.
8 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more processors are resident in a point-of-sale device.
9 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the initial information includes a registration code received from a computing device operated by the user, wherein the additional information specifies that an area of land is sponsored by the user, and wherein the one or more processors are further operable to:
receive other initial information specifying that another user has purchased at least one other good or service, wherein the other initial information is received from a point-of-sale device operated by a business from which the other user purchased the at least one other good or service; and based on the other initial information, generate other additional information specifying that another area of land is sponsored by the other user.
10 . A computer program product comprising a computer usable medium having a computer readable program code embodied therein, said computer readable program code adapted to be executed to implement a method for enabling a user to support a cause undertaken by an entity, the method comprising steps to:
receive initial information indicating that a user has purchased one or more goods or services; and based on the initial information, generate additional information specifying that a cause is supported by the user or another entity.
11 . The computer program product of claim 10 , wherein the initial information includes a registration code received from a computing device operated by the user.
12 . The computer program product of claim 11 , wherein the method further comprises steps to:
modify a first status indicator, which is associated with a first area of land, from an unsponsored status to a sponsored status based on the additional information; receive, from a storage device, a the first status indicator reflecting that the first area of land is sponsored by the user; receive, from the storage device, a second status indicator reflecting that a second area of land is sponsored by another user; receive, from the storage device, a third status indicator reflecting that a third area of land is not sponsored by any user; and send, to a remote computing device, information specifying a map that shows the first, second and third areas of land, and that further shows that the first area of land is sponsored by the user, the second area of land is sponsored by another user, and the third area of land is not sponsored.
13 . The computer program product of claim 10 , wherein the initial information includes a registration code received from a computing device operated by the user, and wherein the method further comprises steps to:
receive other initial information specifying that another user has purchased at least one other good or service, wherein the other initial information is received from a device operated by a business from which the other user purchased the at least one other good or service; modify a first status indicator, which is associated with a first area of land, from a first unsponsored status to a first sponsored status based on the additional information; modify a second status indicator, which is associated with a second area of land, from a second unsponsored status to a second sponsored status based on the other initial information; receive, from a storage device, the first status indicator reflecting that the first area of land is sponsored by the user; receive, from the storage device, the second status indicator reflecting that the second area of land is sponsored by the other user; receive, from the storage device, a third status indicator reflecting that a third area of land is not sponsored by any user; and send, to a remote computing device, information specifying a map that shows the first, second and third areas of land, and that further shows that the first area of land is sponsored by the user, the second area of land is sponsored by another user, and the third area of land is not sponsored.
14 . A computer-implemented method for enabling a user to support a cause undertaken by an entity, the computer-implemented method comprising steps to:
receive initial information indicating that a user has purchased one or more goods or services; and based on the initial information, generate additional information specifying that a cause is supported by the user or another entity.
15 . The method claim 14 , wherein the initial information is received from a point-of-sale device, and wherein the method further comprises steps to:
modify a first status indicator, which is associated with a first area of land, from an unsponsored status to a sponsored status based on the additional information; receive, from a storage device, the first status indicator reflecting that the first area of land is sponsored by the user; receive, from the storage device, a second status indicator reflecting that a second area of land is sponsored by another user; receive, from the storage device, a third status indicator reflecting that a third area of land is not sponsored by any user; and send, to a remote computing device, information specifying a map that shows the first, second and third areas of land, and that further shows that the first area of land is sponsored by the user, the second area of land is sponsored by another user, and the third area of land is not sponsored.
16 . The method claim 14 , wherein the one or more processors are resident in a point-of-sale device, and wherein the initial information includes a registration code associated with the one or more goods or services.Cited by (0)
